From the creative songwriting to the engaging performances, Metal Galaxy is certainly out of this world. With its awesome blend of musical styles, all infused with some form of metal aggression, this record is BABYMETAL at their most adventurous.

Everything fizzes and bursts and explodes with neon delight that sounds, genuinely, like nothing else on earth, but has a delight to it that's oh so familiar. [5 Oct 2019, p.53]

Metal Galaxy is easily the best and most entertaining release of Babymetal’s career, featuring a diverse array of songs that are all capably carried by Suzuka’s proficient vocals, improved songwriting, and an excellent production.

It’s a fine line to walk between variety and novelty. Metal Galaxy dances along this line in admittedly very fun way, but that fun is at the expense of true depth and soul.

Even given its many highlights, sitting through its 14 songs in a single sitting can be a slog. The intensity of Metal Galaxy makes it a hard sell, but, at their best, Babymetal make clashing elements surprisingly cogent, not to mention fun.

From the brief flamenco break in the pummelling ‘Night Night Burn’ and the doomy guttural rumblings of ‘In The Name Of’ to the horns-up thrash anthemics of ‘Distortion’, ‘Metal Galaxy’ is a wild ride that, through its sheer energy, is somehow infectiously accessible.

Babymetal are still at their best when they hover around their initial idea—harnessing the energy of metal and J-Pop into high-flying hybrids. ... Otherwise, Metal Galaxy teems with embarrassing gimmickry.

It's an incredibly fun album and to see them thriving after all they've been through puts an enormous smile on my face. I couldn't be happier, honestly. One slight critique: the Japanese edition has songs that aren't on the international releases. Expand

This album is different from any metal band would do, is more accessible and light, any person can hear one of the songs and would like it.

Beauty, however, does have its flaws. Here,it’s lead preview track “PA PA YA!” which(I’ve heard)is a banger live but, curiously doesn’t seem fit in with the rest of this superior collection and is the only reason I didn’t give it the full 10 it deserves. The only thing i dislike is the abuse of fixes and auto-tune in some songs but in general this is an amazing album.

Yet even at their most experimental they never stray too far away from the sound that has made them so very popular. Metal Galaxy in no way breaks the mold, but it didn't really need to. Nobody else is doing what these girls are at this level right now, so all they had to was add just a little something different to the mix in order to give us a reason to return. They did just that and the results are some of the most fun metal you'll listen to all year, innovative or not.

I give it 1 point because Starlight is the only song that I feel matches the greatness of the first 2 albums. Metal galaxy isn't a bad albumI give it 1 point because Starlight is the only song that I feel matches the greatness of the first 2 albums. Metal galaxy isn't a bad album but it's just such a disappointment. It's easily their most "pop" influenced album and not just by sound but in song structure also. The random exciting wtf moments, unusual song structures don't exist anymore, the speed metal element is only there on 1 or 2 songs and the mix for most of the album makes the songs sound even less heavy. Let's not forget the awful auto tune they put on Su-metal's voice on some tracks which we all know she doesn't need. I'd give it a 6.5 as there are some cool moments within each song but then I remember people even thinking it's as good as the first two albums so my score of 1 stays. I hope they revert back to their old ways but I doubt they will with future albums Expand
