Felt like Eminem was trying to be overly edgy on this album. This does not necessarily make the album bad but gives off a very immature vibe and truly highlights just how stuck he is in the current generation of rap. He simply cannot seem to acclimate to rap nowadays. He just needs to grow up, cut his losses and retire now, like he should’ve ten years ago.

Eminem tries very hard here to maintain the edgy appeal he carried ten years back. A majority of this album as a result of this sounds corny and terribly immature. I'm seeing The Telegraph here giving this album a 10 on 10, and I think that is definite example of how long Eminem's status goes to improve his ratings. All of the tracks achieve very little as far as instrumentation or lyricism goes and Darkness was the only exception that genuinely tried to do something. This album is odd. To him complaining about haters, him being political and then him saying "bombs away like I'm outside an Ariana concert". This album could've been better if eminem tried. The man is close to 50 years old trying to fit in with the younger generations, it's not working.

Just like almost all the albums that have came out in the 1st month of 2020, its repetitive as hell. His rapping is getting worse, because hes rich. He doesn't have to worry, and that's what he used to rap about.

    It got a 48/190 from me or a 25%.

Eminem acts like he's still 21 starting beef with people and hating the system or whatever, yet he's a middle aged man who's no longer relevant. He should take a leaf out of JAY-Zs book, who has matured as any artist should, and created 4:44, an album 100x better than anything Eminem has made. This album is one of the worst albums I've heard in awhile, but unlike the mainstream mumble rap that pervades hip hop, this one hurts more when you reminisce on the talent Eminem once had. From awful punch lines nauseatingly bad choruses, and bubblegum pop features, the irony is that fans of Em's recent albums will say "it is better than what's on the radio" ignorant of the fact that Slim Shady has gone the route of hiring Rihanna, Ed Sheeran, Pink, and other pop, radio artists and making singles specifically for this hypocritical purpose. When he tries to be deep and thoughtful, he comes across as someone with a shallow take on social issues, so shallow and unsubstantial, they do not warrant voicing.

He approaches some semblance of self awareness when addressing the negative reviews of his recent albums, but proceeds to remind listeners that he lives in a bubble, for he cannot understand why criticism is directed at him, claiming he should be praised for staying relevant for so long. Well...spoiler Em, it is because your music has painfully regressed in every category, and your relevance seems to be a formulaic approach of dissing old beefs, making a track about what a mistake it was, and then repeating thos process.

The only relevancy he can boast about is managing to secure a new generation of fans, who...in a depressing irony, cannot fathom why older listeners are so critical of Eminem now, for they were not around to witness what made Eminem a legend in hip hop.
It is a somber admittance to loss respect for an artist you once revered. The real slim shady evidently died over a decade ago, and the so called slim shady we see putting out albums now is a hellish, Frankenstein's monster, abomination of a creature.

Eminem has become the Star Wars of rap. There will always be a cult following that will eat up whatever **** is put out, merely because the name Eminem is attached. That tells us what an impact he has had on hiphop. Contrarily, the ones who appreciated the originals though look on with disgust at what their once beloved creation has become. And like Star Wars, we can grimly expect more and more movies (albums) to come out which will only continue to tarnish the legacy of something once so respected and cherished.

i THINK THIS MAY BE THE WORST MUSIC EVER RELEASED. ONLY TRASH SONGS. A COMPLETE DISGRACE.

Another trash album from a used to be great rapper. From 3 dope albums to open and now just ok and scattered songs/albums from him now. His stand make it worse because they know it's not good but when you got 90% of white fans defending his old ways and repetitive rap patterns. This is the result you get.

I love this album, tracks, flow, etc., etc. For me, there is no bad song, i love them all.

Em's gotta do something new, he keeps doing the same old with no real change or twist, plus all this stuff he's done much better in the past.

Em's strongest effort since The Eminem Show alongside 2013's Marshall Mathers LP 2. Music To Be Murdered By is not nearly as thematically focused as MMLP2, but what it lacks in cohesion, it makes up with a tracklist that's full of really memorable individual tracks that are diverse, full of technical brilliance, brimming with catchy hooks, eargasmic flows and creative wordplay. Honestly, at this point Eminem is ruining his legacy. This albums is so forgettable and so bad.

It’s okay. Has good tracks, but overall I only go back to a handful of them.

This is certainly a solid effort from Eminem all round, although a handful of the tracks become tiresome after a couple of listens, and others are fairly forgettable. It's certainly a marked improvement on his past few albums, although that's a pretty low bar considering how objectively bad they were. People giving this a 10 are obviously massive stans, and people giving it a 2 or 3 blatantly haters. I think a 5-7 is probably the most reasonable assessment of this good, but far from his best, album. Em fans will certainly enjoy it. Expand

These Eminem stans are ridiculous... This is the same boring corny ass music with the same lame fast raps about nothing with the same annoying staccato flow that he has had on his last few projects. This is so bad

Quite possibly Em’s worst project, I had to apologize to my ears, I couldn’t get through an entire song. Hard to see this man fall off

why does eminem even try to be a rapper anymore if he's just gonna not accept that genres change

Terrible and difficult listen. Eminem has chosen speed over clever bars and has delivered some very cringy bars and flows that did not fit the beats. The features were decent. Young MA stole the show. Replay value is extremely low.

This hurts to say but i don't like this album. He has some decent to trash beats, he has horrible hooks and keeps his annoying stacatto fast flow that lost it's magic after the first few times he did it. His attitude is like a 50 year old man who keeps fighting young kids to get off his lawn. I get why he hates this new generation; his last album was him literally taking a **** on it; youThis hurts to say but i don't like this album. Eminem is in a corner with nothing to say, he has done it all, he rose to be the illest on the mic, he beat his demons, he survived the hard streets of Detroit and I'm not taking that away from him but he has nothing to say; All the clever wordplay an rhymes can't cover up that. I hope that with all the success he gets from this album dosen't bleed to his next one. Expand

Extremely annoying to listen to. Eminem’s extremely corny lines and fast-flows-that-aren’t-cool-anymore ruin the album. Juice WRLD and Anderson.paak were the best parts of it

Trash like everything he puts out. Nothing's changed at all, except that now he's not only making fun of people, he's also making fun of terrorism.

Better than his latest outputs, but that ain't saying much, generic beats, childish verses and awful (awful) choruses. Yes, there are still tons of Kyles blasting his music while chugging mountain dew, thrilled to give this a 10, but that doesn't make it good. a Mediocre attempt at staying relevant.

    Best tracks: The skits

He clearly cares about his output, but “Music To Be Murdered By” is, unfortunately, another mixed bag of tricks, propped up by lyrical acrobatics and underwhelming production.

If they look hard enough, any artist could find criticism of their work online. That’s sort of the curse of the Information Age. But not everyone overreacts quite as much as Eminem does. But if his fears grow tiring, his lyrical ability can still give you something to admire, even if the album is somewhat uneven.

It is not, strictly speaking, a good record—Eminem hasn’t made one of those in a decade—but it boasts enough technical command and generates just enough arresting ideas to hold your attention.
