He just sounds like a bitter old man as usual in quite a few spots of the album. The best song on the album "You gon Learn" belonged to Royce. A number of corny lines, just did not enjoy this album at all.

Eminem’s newest album is a complete failure in all means. It is a constant negative trend in the hip hop community to spread hate to said ‘mumble rappers’ and Eminem thrives off this message instead of promoting upcoming artists. The message in this album is unclear and seems as if Eminem is drifting further away from what is considered his peak performance

Absolutely terrible album. Whilst I like the MMLP and the SSLP, Eminem has fallen off hard. his reliance on shock has waded off into the minimum of irrelevancy and the maximum of making fun of terrorist attacks. I swear that these people never understood the consequences of following a person blindly with absolutely no criticisms as seen in 'Stan'. Eminem himself makes fun of people for having no skill, yet his music becomes a washed up pair whenever he does release anything. Expand

This is not even Eminem's best work, and people claim it's the best hiphop work so far. Eminem is just trying to make a living of stale dad-rapping. There are couple of good bars here and there, but overall both the production and the flows lack creativity. Political lyrics also don't help when they're nonsense, either.

This album has received a large amount of praise by people who I assume haven't listened to lots of music, or ever made music.

    What this album does well:
There are 1 or 2 songs that are pretty decent, they wouldn't make it onto one of my playlists, but they are enjoyable. Specifically "Lock It Up" featuring Anderson .Paak. Also I'm also happy to see eminem open up to the new wave of music with artists like Juice WRLD, Young M.A and Don Toliver, however their more creative and innovative approaches to music clash a bit with eminem's tried and true lyrical fast rap formula that he's developed over the years.

    What the album does decent:
The production. The production is pretty decent, however does absolutely nothing in the field of innovation. The beats, although i would classify as pretty good, don't do anything that I've never heard before. I think the length of this album kind of took away from this, as shorter albums tend to include the mixing of songs together to create an enjoyable listening experience from start to finish. None of the beats hit especially hard either. there is no really great moment on this record where you say "Wow that beat bumps." Leaving the production at "Meh" at best. Next, the concepts on some of these songs. For an album to earn a very high rating in my books, it has to carry a concept. now eminem's album doesn't do this, however many of the songs feature concepts. There are a few songs on this album that have great concepts with lots of meaning, such as Darkness, where Em does a great job of comparing himself as a young adult and a drug addict to a school shooter. The track is pretty excellent in the field of meaning. Sadly there are some tracks where the concept is just kind of gross, specifically "Those Kinda Nights." featuring Ed Sheeran. This song brings us Eminem's gross, kind of cringe, kind of annoying club style 'Girl You're Very Sexy" song which is a concept that Em should have left behind a long long time ago.

Finally the bad parts about this album:
This may be surprising to some, but I think eminem's over-the-top fast rapping ruins songs in this album. A song will be nice, some of his flows are complex, yet they fit in decently. THEN, out of nowhere, speedy mcspeed comes around with his auctioneer slippery quick lines that are too fast to understand, and have significantly less meaning than his slower lines. Next is eminem's singing, His singing voice just isn't the best instrument for his songs, as he always manages to sound nasally and with too many stereo and doubling effects put on that make him sound even more raspy and dry. For someone who talks so much about how much he hates auto tune, his vocals require way too much processing to sound decent, and I think he could really do for some auto tune. lastly, Anothing annoying thing is the story telling cuts, although I'd have to say the Stepdad intro was really well done and painted a great image in my head, however sadly the song contained such annoying singing and such an awful, muddy beat that I just couldn't make it all the way through.

I think the thing I have to say about this album is that you should just read the lyrics instead of listening to it, because the story telling is good, but the way the album sounds is just decent at best. Really not a great album, in terms of production, delivery, and overall sound. Definitely better than his last two tho. So, props to him.

I believe there are way better lyricists (currently) who cover more interesting and intriguing subject matter than EmAt this point, em can fart (at a really fast pace on repeat) on a record and these cancerous stans will suck it all up like smelling roses. sales and Stan reviews don’t matter when the golden “white boy” of hiphop gets props for vomiting rhymes over trash / generic beats. I believe there are way better lyricists (currently) who cover more interesting and intriguing subject matter than Em and break musical ground within the genre of hiphop. Em’s content Over the last decade can be boiled down to: “I’m a rich, angry man-child who raps fast”. the dude is 40, but sounds like he just hit puberty. That’s not interesting. That’s corny. Modern Eminem blows and y’all should be ashamed of yourselves for making this the highest userscore album of all time. Honestly hard to listen to this album.

It has a few tracks that are well put together but it is way, way, way too long. Most of the time. It seems like Eminem was just doing his thing over bland beats with punchlines that give me PTSD of the revival days. Its like kamikaze but take away must of the concentration and energy the songs on that record had. Of course, there are a few exceptions as you would accept from Eminem butIt has a few tracks that are well put together but it is way, way, way too long. Most of the time. i honestly think lil uzi not dropping in over two years has lowered peoples standards of what an actual good album sounds like. i didnt even listen to this garbage but its obviously the most flaming trash of the decade. gave it a 1 for a participation point. eminem is a poor mans logic at this point.

He clearly cares about his output, but “Music To Be Murdered By” is, unfortunately, another mixed bag of tricks, propped up by lyrical acrobatics and underwhelming production.

If they look hard enough, any artist could find criticism of their work online. That’s sort of the curse of the Information Age. But not everyone overreacts quite as much as Eminem does. But if his fears grow tiring, his lyrical ability can still give you something to admire, even if the album is somewhat uneven.

It is not, strictly speaking, a good record—Eminem hasn’t made one of those in a decade—but it boasts enough technical command and generates just enough arresting ideas to hold your attention.
