    almost a year after the release of this album and all i want to say is that it hasn't aged a bit. a literal masterpiece, the vocals, the sounds, the lyrics, the emotions... everything is on POINT. This is some great work, it's sad that it didn't win a grammy, but you don't need one to apply that something is great. Thank you Lana for releasing this great work. it literally changed my lifealmost a year after the release of this album and all i want to say is that it hasn't aged a bit. a literal masterpiece, the vocals, the sounds, the lyrics, the emotions... everything is on POINT. This is some great work, it's sad that it didn't win a grammy, but you don't need one to apply that something is great. Thank you Lana for releasing this great work. it literally changed my life into a better one. this is UNIQUE, i'm excited for her next project i know she won't disappoint. i also love how this album fits perfectly as a continuation to her previous albums Born To Die and Ultraviolence.

    This is a very cohesive and polished record. It depicts Del Rey's vocals and songwriting skills so good, and the Antonoff's production in it is a perfect match. The album blends both smooth piano ballads and energic drummed tracks that should make it enough for the record to get Lana a Grammy for Album of the Year. Because it is.

    Norman **** Rockwell! is an experience. Her best to date vocally. She mastered the sound she was aiming for on Lust For Life turning it into the beautiful masterpiece that this record is. Norman **** Rockwell! sounds like Lana’s full discography meshed all into one and it WORKS. Single handedly one of her best records to date. Deserves multiple Grammy awards! AOTY perhaps? 10/10!

    Upon first listen I would’ve rated this album a solid 9, but after listening to it on repeat for the last 63 hours since it’s release I have no choice but to rate it a 10. While there are a couple of songs that seem out of place, NFR still presents itself as a well oiled machine that’s been running without mechanical error for years.

    No words. Miss Del Rey is the only singer capable of evocing a disney classic score and and the rush of being on a corner of LA waiting for the shot of heroin to kick in. She has lived her life of glamour and fame and now is on the studio with a piano and a guitar and her angel vocals, just like her earliest days in music.

The meticulous attention to detail, the high poetic level of the text, the maturity of the album can only bring NFR to be compared to the previous LDR masterpieces "Honeymoon" and "Ultraviolence". Lana collects her past to take a"Norman F**king Rockwell!" brings us back to the Lana Del Rey with a uniform project in mind, especially after a somewhat more dispersive album Lust For Life. The meticulous attention to detail, the high poetic level of the text, the maturity of the album can only bring NFR to be compared to the previous LDR masterpieces "Honeymoon" and "Ultraviolence". Lana collects her past to take a step forward, not trying to copy any previous era. From the guitar that accompanies the growing choirs of "F**k It I Love You", which recalls the finale of "West Coast", the chorus of "Love Song" which quotes "Cruel World" ("With my party dress I'm a **** mess "), the line of "The Next Best American Record" that says "Topanga is hot tonight" (listen to "Heroin", one of the best songs of "Lust For Life"), a reminder to Carmen ("Top Shelf- Liquor"), to the orchestral arrangements of "California" and "Cinnamon Girl" reminiscent of Honeymoon, Lana draws inspiration from all her past projects, but originates something completely new. Antonoff's work is excellent, and respects Lana's willingness to get completely naked in front of her fans, in a moving operation that reaches her climaxes in "Venice B**h "Hope Is A Dangerous Thing For A Woman Like Me To Have - But I Have It" and **** It I Love You". The touch of the historic collaborator Rick Nowels, which only confirms his talent, helps to create unique pieces like "Bartender" and "Happiness Is A Butterfly". Lana shows off exceptional vocals that find the emotional climax in the outro of "Norman **** Rockwell". Personally I find it difficult to choose the best track, also because there is not a single bad or not memorable song in the album. I think that the most particular is "Bartender". Beautiful.… Expand

    It's a remarkably sharp pop record that retains her fascination with pop-culture iconography and the rosey simplicity of a post-war America where classic rock and blue jeans ruled and takes them to much deeper places. ... Think of it as an hour-long car ride peeling down the highway with classic rock blaring out of the radio and no real destination in mind other than where your impulsive nature might take you.

    A thematically rich record, heavy on mood and elegantly written in a way that positions Del Rey between Eve Babitz and Carole King. There are beguiling and evolving melodies underneath the spare piano and acoustic arrangements. [Nov 2019, p.24]
