  • Summary: Parallel Thought produced the first album for the team up of Del The Funky Homosapien and Tame One.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 5 out of 6
  2. Negative: 0 out of 6
  1. Tame and Del are like-minded rappers who have been heading in the same direction for years musically without having crossed paths. Now that they've finally linked their styles together in tandem, it's a blessing to all of their old fans and soon to be new ones.
  2. The sound isn’t youthful, nor does it try to be. To Del, the quintessential alternative hip-hop artist, and Tame, underground hip-hop mainstay, the panacea to the apparent predicament of age is craftsmanship.
  3. The duo backs up its devotion to classic sounds with rich layers of funk, soul, jazz, blues and rock sampling that honor the genre-bending experimentation prevalent in '80s and early-'90s hip-hop.
  4. Songs are allowed as much time as they need, but the album as a whole is economical and right-sized at 11 tracks. This is highly enjoyable weekend music from the underground, nothing more, nothing less.
  5. 70
Producer Parallel Thought supports the storytelling (and saves the duo from dissolving into navel-gazing) with sharp loops.
  6. Despite the sometimes lackluster lyrical content, Parallel Uni-verses is ultimately saved by its jazzy upbeat production and Del’s delivery, which, despite his goofy swagger, fills up the album with relative fluidity.
Score distribution:

  2. Mixed: 0 out of 1
  3. Negative: 0 out of 1

I was really disappointed with del's last album, but this album almost makes up for that. Producer Parallel Thought's wicked I was really disappointed with del's last album, but this album almost makes up for that. Producer Parallel Thought's wicked production really drives del's flow - he sounds motivated and excited to be working with tame one - a really phat album. its not old-school, its true-school. Expand
