    The marketing copy of this album defines it as being "Honest. Vulnerable. Rare" and for once, I have to agree. 'Rare' is to Selena Gomez what 'ARTPOP' was to Lady Gaga: “This album is a celebration. My pain exploding. It’s heavy, but after I listen to it, I feel happy again. I feel lighter.”

She has a lot more to say and the songs are generally well produced and well written. It shows that the focused on herself more and she made a very honest and heartfelt album. Look at her now is very slick and confident tune on self empowerment. Rare, Ring,Let Me get me are also other songs that show a lot of confidence, empowerment and self assurance and i love this coming from Selena. The ballad Lose you to love me is probably the best song of her career as it showcases maturity and vulnerability that we have not seen from Selena ever before. My personal favorite was A sweeter Place, an amazing collaboration with Kid Cudi with these great lyrics, production, hook, vocals. It was definitely my favorite song of 2020… Expand

    Esse album mostra sentimentos reais que qualquer um pode sentir e SENTE. Cantar sobre um coração partido é o maior clichê da música, mas ela transformou esse clichê em pura arte e fez músicas deliciosas de se ouvir. Simplesmente incrível, não consigo pular nenhuma música.

In my opinion, some boring songs are "Sweeter Place," "Cut You Off," and "Fun." I wish I could like these, but I don't know I can't. But I like some of the songs like "Look At Her Now," "Vulnerable," and "Rare." This album is graceful and beautiful. And theThe "Rare" album was quite kinda different from her past albums.     Selena Gomez proves once again that her "main pop girl" status is deserved and not only can she sing, write, and produce but Gomez is able to have more success even 10+ years into her career. Despite not being as powerful as her previous album, "Revival", Gomez adds that this album is her most personal work to date and I couldn't agree more. Prior to writing this review, I gave Revival andSelena Gomez proves once again that her "main pop girl" status is deserved and not only can she sing, write, and produce but Gomez is able to have more success even 10+ years into her career. Despite not being as powerful as her previous album, "Revival", Gomez adds that this album is her most personal work to date and I couldn't agree more. Prior to writing this review, I gave Revival and Rare a re-listen and I have come to a general consensus. Rare (Deluxe) has 0 songs I would skip, each piece of art is somewhat of a masterpiece in a way. "Lose You To Love Me" the lead single became Gomez's first ever number one song on the billboard hot 100, and was deservedly so! This song opens up on a past toxic relationship, one where she was emotionally, physically, and verbally abused. This song is serious & touching, but is able to also show aspects of her cheeky side with cunning lyrics such as "Sang off key in my chorus, cus' it wasn't yours" Or honest lyrics like "Rose color glasses all distorted" LYTLM has amassed nearly one billion streams on Spotify and is definitely the best song on this album. An underrated bop on this album is titled "Souvenir" and with lyrics like "Swimming in your eyes, in your eyes In your eyes, Egyptian blue Something I've never had without you" we catch a glimpse of how Selena felt within her life. Other songs like "Ring", "Fun", and "She" come off more silly rather than sophisticated, but this entire album compared to Revival is a lot more fun and less adult. I don't believe she sounds like how she did in her Disney days with the Scene, but compared to Revival she takes the back seat rather than driving further into adult hood. Despite being more dance and bubble gum pop, compared to revival's electro/r&b flair I do still believe this album is the best of 2020! I recommended to all who love Pop, and who understand the struggles of being used, or loving someone too much. As well as being in a place where you are not okay, and although you haven't admitted it to yourself you have the backbone you need to receive support and love, in which you absolutely deserve!… Expand

    Rare is a new perspective of Gomez's music career. It's a proof she's on her way to find own style. Each song is unique even that most of them are kept in pop-catchy vibe. Production's very clever and very good! What's more Selena gave us a beautiful lyrics to each track and while they also are very diffrent, it's easy to hear they are parts of Rare album.

    Is one of her most beautiful music projects. But something missing in this album, after 'Bad Liar', 'Fetish', 'Wolves, I was expecting a different type of sounds, I love it, though. Maturity and vocal growth is one of his successes

    While none of these 13 songs attempt the subtle weirdness of “Bad Liar” and the emotional thesis—self-love!—can be a bit one-note, Rare is the 27-year-old’s most cohesive record to date. ... But it’s difficult to come away from Rare with any real perspective on who Gomez is other than that she doesn’t want to be the person she was, whoever that similarly mysterious shadow was.
