    I think a lot of people give this album flack when they don’t take the time to fully develop and let the songs grow. Upon first listen there is a couple growers but over time this album is beautiful. Although the album cover is terrible, lol.

    I tried to like it, I really honestly tried but it’s so impossible when you can tell music is not Selena’s passion, this music is not good because she doesn’t put her heart into it. It’s so forced and the lyrics are repetitive trash. I think Selena should be acting, not signing.

    Such a good album. She has never been that vulnerable and honest, singing straight from her heart about heartbreaking and being disappointed. "Vulnerable" is the heart of this album, while "A sweeter place" is the brain.

I was very disappointed because I’ve been a fan of hers since...I don’t even know how long. I gave the album another listen, it got better and better with each listen. What really changed my entire view on this album, was the lyrics. When I looked up the lyrics to each song and gave it another fresh listen after, I recognized the beautiful body of work that this woman has made. I felt each line of each song so deeply that it was Almost scary like it was made for me. And with the deluxe edition now out, it’s even more incredible. Give it a listen and really listen to what is being said, past the fun poppy, soulful production. This album is a great listen.… Expand

    -The sounds and rhythms of the album "Rare" is fun, it is also fresh and danceable. I love when Gomez's voice plays with the rhythm of each song that makes it interesting.

    Rare is definitely Selena's best album to date. The album has fun bops, catchy and soothing beats, and breathtaking lyrical and vocal production. Her voice is sultry, soft, and distinctive, and it seems she really found her sound with this album! 10/10 and I very much recommend giving this album a listen.

    Amazing album by Selena, very good and cohesive. Gomez explored many styles and branches of genres within this album. It was absolutely great with many standout songs. In addition, the deluxe version is even better. Great album, sadly snubbed my a majority of award shows.

    While none of these 13 songs attempt the subtle weirdness of “Bad Liar” and the emotional thesis—self-love!—can be a bit one-note, Rare is the 27-year-old’s most cohesive record to date. ... But it’s difficult to come away from Rare with any real perspective on who Gomez is other than that she doesn’t want to be the person she was, whoever that similarly mysterious shadow was.
