    No matter what direction his music takes on Sleep on the Wing, it's quintessentially Bibio, and spending more time with it is a joy.

    Yes, it's a pretty good record, and the songs will linger with you after you've stopped spinning the record – it's just that Wilkinson is capable of so much more.

    I've been a fan of Bibio since 2012, and have enjoyed exploring all his albums. He has a few soundscapes that he pulls from, ranging between classic folk and modern psychedelic techno. I was enraptured by Mind Bokeh, but noted how synthetic its soundscapes were, especially when compared to the instantly nostalgia of Vignetting The Compost. I think Bibio's strength comes from his traditional background, and it is a pure joy to hear it on full display after quite a few albums. This return to more acoustic song craft is a pleasant surprise. I continue to respect and value Bibio's work as a whole, and I wish him nothing but the best. Loved Town and Country, loved Silver, loved Amb Ave. He is doing a great job.… Full Review »

    Listening to this is like taking a walk through the English countryside. It's extremely nice and pleasant and allows your mind to wander.Listening to this is like taking a walk through the English countryside. It's extremely nice and pleasant and allows your mind to wander. Bibio allows the listener to explore this album themselves and create their own meanings to each track; he can only be heard on three tracks (and his appearance on 'Ratlinghope' is to use his vocals as part of the backing track). Awpockes and Miss Blennerhasset are reminiscent of old Tudor lute compositions while A Couple Swim sounds like the combination of a Fleet Foxes guitar and an ambient synthesiser from Kraftwerk's 'Autobahn' era. The final three pieces of this album are slightly too ambient and don't add as much to the texture of the album as they should. I would recommend this album as an accompaniment to your next walk as it makes for a lush half-hour… Full Review »
