[Pfeffer] pruned this album to an essential thirty-two minutes, in which every note (and there are a lot of them) has its purpose and every bizarre genre switch leads somewhere important and ends before wearing out its welcome.
-
So Embarrassing is a bold change in direction for Capillary Action, but one that pays off as well as one could hope.
-
Pfeffer is only 21 and already he has released an album that possesses a very original sound as well as an impressive amount of musicianship.
-
While Pfeffer’s lyrics are engaging, they’re sometimes inaccessible in delivery. Despite this, So Embarrassing is an interesting personal take on prog rock’s roots, and therefore quite a step in the right direction.
