LORDE has once again given us bops. Love the lyrics and production. The song the path is the perfect beginning for the album it reminds me of a path in the forest where the sunshine peeks through the trees. The last song, Oceanic Feeling is 6 minutes of pure bliss.. thank you for coming to my ted talk.

Out of the box storytelling. Each Track represents a meaningful journey. Redefining Artistry and going beyonce the typical releases. The Album speaks a volume of creativeness coming from an Artist who does not follow the typical pop standard.

I set my expectations low with early buzz from this album, but I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. It’s more of a 7.5. Acoustic guitars, cicadas, and hand beaten drums feel so rejuvenating. It’s nothing I’d ever expect from Lorde, yet I can’t say I’m surprised. She’s always been on a different wave length from the rest of us. I’m easily able to latch onto this drifting boat down a lazy river, enjoying the beautiful lyrics of connection and love for this planet.

It’s a record I know some will find polarizing. It’s not her usual thick 808s and fast talking that we all know and love. Solar Power feels like a stop and smell the roses kind of message, that I, and I’m sure many people, need to heed. It’s not comparable to her past works, for better or worse. In my case, it’s a welcome addition to her already masterful works.

The slower songs are unique to Lorde and honestly refreshed how different it is from the other girl's jack antonoff has been working with. I think that the lyrics are hard to relate because she makes music we learn to relate to and grow from. i did not understand the pain and all experiences Lorde attempted to convey at first with Melodrama, but over time it was the most beautiful record that anyone could find something to relate to in the song writing, but as I have said, that takes time. I'm sure it comes as no surprise to anyone that Lorde has once again created an outstanding project that was executed beautifully. Her song writing continues to speak for itself, wrapped in a cocoon of production (spearheaded by Lorde herself) that is so different than anything I'm hearing in the contemporary world of music. Jack Antonoff's contributions to this production can't go un-missed, and their teamwork shines through. The themes are so exotic feeling, as if summer is breathing on your neck and all there is to do is look inside yourself and feel good about it. I've listened three times, and the highlights for me are The Path, Solar Power, California, Stoned at the Nail Salon, Fallen Fruit, Secrets From a Girl (Who's Seen It All), Dominoes, Big Star, Mood Ring and Hold No Grudge. I'm intoxicated by this album and can't wait to unravel and learn to love it more. Expand

It's simply a good work. Lorde knows how to create a cohesive album and Solar Power explores new sound and they are used in every song differently. Lyrically it's mature and could be the most atemporal works of Ella

A perfect dream-pop album, with soothing, mellow vibes. A word of caution - don't go into it expecting PH or Melo 2.0. A lot changes in four years, and I'm here for this new sonic direction Lorde has taken! Begin your sun salutations!

That been said: Lorde's third album is ANYTHING but boring or lacking of a single thing. It's a complete and cohesive body of work. She told us what she was looking for to achieve with this release and she deliveries it. It's a happy mature album from a 24yo woman who does not relate to the songs she wrote when she as a kid anymore and that now wants to explore other themes and technicals skills.

Lorde really pushed herself through with vocals on this album, and anyone who's listen to a single song from her past works know that this is true. She's been more involved in production in this new album than in any other before and it's really refreshing to hear someone experimenting new abilities and studying something new. We already know by her 2 first albums what's she can do, and he'll yeah she can do anything with mastery, now what we're supposed to be expecting from her is anything that we DONT know she can do, and this is a nice, happy, and brave delivery of it. I'm proud.

All these connections Lorde is trying to make: her strange pastiche imagination of the ’70s, that random spoken word interlude by Robyn about climate change, and the themes of “sun healing,” never fully reach each other. Often, they come off as disingenuous and out of touch more than they read as brilliant, or comical. Whether the album is one big prank, or just one majorly failed experiment, the gist of having the “privilege to ignore” is lost in translation. All you are left with is just a handful of pretty alright songs.

If you're riding and vibing with Lorde, this bright shapelessness is superb mood music. If you're not riding her wave, Solar Power can seem elusive, even cloying, as it circles and sways with a smile.
