The return of the true queen of the alternative is wonderful, in this album Lorde writes songs about how young people face their problems through different cultures but these same behaviors harm cultures, she shows us that she has the ability to produce and write in an IMPECCABLE way, we needed the queen's music

Lorde shows so much maturity with this album, the slowing down of tempo is refreshing to hear after such a turbulent year. The guitars and vocal harmonies are beautifully synced. Lyrically she speaks to the fears of an anxious millennial but then reminds us it is all going to be ok.

The themes that she wove into the album as a whole are present in every track - to varying degrees- so I'd say that all the songs work synergistically and listening to the whole album has a much greater affect on you than just some of the songs.

A beautiful album with a new sound. Cohesively beautiful. Comparing to melodrama solar power isn't as good some might say but the album in itself is amazing. Lyrically matured and beautiful. Oceanic feeling is one of the best songs on the album along with mood ring, the path and secrets from a girl.

Solar Power is calm, it really takes a long time to reach a peak. Lorde's skills have shown that she can reach higher points.
43 minutes are enough to transport us to a world close to nature. This record is simple because it's meant to be, it doesn't need a big elaborate production.

Solar Power is definitely an album that grows little by little, it needs enough time to process.
Best Tracks: Oceanic Feeling, California & Fallen Fruit.

Sonically awesome, I really liked it's cohesiveness. Lyrics are pretty good, too. But, record as a whole body of work hasn't drowned me in. It has me at Stoned At The Nail Salon (which is btw best song on the album), but lost me in continuation.

Not her best, but is still very good. Some songs are amazing - secrets, mood ring - but others just don't have anything special.

A few months ago, I was truly scared because I thought it was impossible to make an album that was on the same level as Melodrama. However, this album is magnificent. Lorde did it again. Listening to it is an out of this world experience. Lorde just keeps making art.

This album has gotten some harsh criticism I don't think is deserved. Complaints like it's too positive for the pandemic (the "read the room" defense), that it's too boring, that it's not cool enough, all seem very shallow.

Some other critiques make more sense to me. Like that it doesn't have the clear overarching theme her previous two albums do, or that some songs blend together in

It's still a very good album, just not as good as her other ones

Im torn. I can see why some people might love this album and some might hate it. My feelings toward Solar Power are somewhere in the middle. Is this a great album? No. Is it a good album? In my opinion yes. Is it disappointing? After a 4 year long wait yes unfortunately Solar power is a disappointment. Its not her best album but its still a worthy one. No. Is it a good album? In my opinion yes. Is it disappointing? After a 4 year long wait yes unfortunately Solar power is a disappointment. Its not her best album but its still a worthy one. Its her most laid back album to date and yet there seems to be a lot missing. The opening track The Path is easily one of my favorite Lorde tracks of all time. Most of the tracks on here are pretty but forgettable. Ive warmed up to the singles Solar Power and Mood Ring but they still lack bite. I can almost guarantee that Lorde's next album will perhaps be her most personal and most mature and im looking forward to that. After three albums Lorde has two big hits and Solar Power is like a soft kiss in the wind. It wont leave a long lasting impression but its good enough for this moment now and hey maybe thats what Lorde is going for, she wants us to live in this moment now. ***1/2 out of 5 stars. Expand

This is an album that takes a lot of time to listen too, it actually grows on you the more you listen to it, while there are songs that sound the same there are some really great standout tracks like Fallen Fruit, Mood Ring, & The Path. While it is a step down from Melodrama it isn’t a bad album at all, it’s different and unique, it’s a great relaxing album to listen too, it just takes time.

A little bit sad. Not the sound of melodies or a concept of the album. It's just not the Lorde I fell in love with a long time ago....

The album is worth waiting for. I love how Lorde is not afraid to change musical direction. The songwriting is astonishing. Critics should stop making her previous albums as the standard of her. I love Solar Power!

I love how she reinvents her self in every album. This sounds nothing like "Pure Heroine" or "Melodrama" and that's the cool thing. She is growing up and experimenting with her sound. At first listen and after reading some fan reviews I felt a little disappointed, but after 4-5 listens to the album, I really love it and think it has no skips. I can't wait to hear this record on my vinyl player!

All these connections Lorde is trying to make: her strange pastiche imagination of the ’70s, that random spoken word interlude by Robyn about climate change, and the themes of “sun healing,” never fully reach each other. Often, they come off as disingenuous and out of touch more than they read as brilliant, or comical. Whether the album is one big prank, or just one majorly failed experiment, the gist of having the “privilege to ignore” is lost in translation. All you are left with is just a handful of pretty alright songs.

If you're riding and vibing with Lorde, this bright shapelessness is superb mood music. If you're not riding her wave, Solar Power can seem elusive, even cloying, as it circles and sways with a smile.

This might not be the album that everyone wanted from Lorde, but it’s a solid, dreamy effort that deserves exploration. There’s plenty here worthy of attention if you can focus for long enough.
