  1. Although The Cross Of My Calling ostensibly provides an outlet for the band’s Marxist ideologies, its impeccable musicianship, arrangement and production make any political sloganeering irrelevant.
  2. With Rick Rubin polishing the group's garage rock approach into a sharper aural attack, T(I)NC dishes out such heady anthems.
  3. There's no denying the passion and skill behind the group's fourth album, its most accessible collection yet.

The Cross of My Calking is far more spirited [than their last album], creating a univese somewhere between Primal Scream's Rolling Stones phase and the Mars Volta's brand of jam science, with an occasional Bo Diddley beat thrown in. [Jan 2008, p.129]

Don't call these noisy Swedes a nostalgia act. Reuniting with producer Rick Rubin, whose low-gloss production emphasizes the quartet's adrenaline rush, the Conspiracy unleash a barrage of topical bulletins.
  6. There are unexpected gems hidden here.

Though this may be considered a good album due to its proper rock anthems and memorable melodies, the style goes awry one too many times for the disc to be considered novel. [Holiday 2008, p.92]

Generally, they’re smart and musical enough to turn rhetorical gestures into convincing rock & roll. But when they subtitle the whole schmear “A Love Vision!” you wonder who they’re trying to kid.

Always better live than on record, there are few highlights here, and the bulk of the songs presented are lukewarm at best and often borrow topics and musical ideas. [Year End 2008]
  10. Mall-punk aesthetes might be convinced, but even before Cross of My Calling’s ponderous title-track closer comes around (with its near nine-minutes of lead-footed epilogue), most listeners owning a copy of Sandinista! will have put it on instead.
  11. The Cross of My Calling just sounds like an unfinished assignment.

Good story, Was taken out of the movie by some of the acting like when Naomi Watts slammed her HURT hand on the table to show indignation. Good story, Was taken out of the movie by some of the acting like when Naomi Watts slammed her HURT hand on the table to show indignation. The ending left a lot to be desired but I don't know how it could have been different. Full Review »
