Never been a fan but after being assaulted by their singles every day this summer is was hard to not at least check it out. The singles are catchy, obviously made as throwaway pop and if that is all your looking for it does it's job great but the album as a whole is weak and will be forgotten as soon as the last single is taken off the constant airplay.

The E.N.D is slightly less annoying and slightly more catchy than it's predecessor 'Monkey Business' but it's not a big improvement. It's very similar to Monkey Business in that it starts off well but slowly deteriorates with fillers nearer the end. 'Meet Me Halfway' is another pop orientated song but is more mid tempo and it cools you down after you've just danced your ass off to 'Rock That Body'. The later tracks however, are boring and so commercial not even the pop market is yet the embrace them. These include the strange song' Now Generation', it neither embraces or criticises the world we live in today and 'One Tribe' very much like 'Union' from Monkey Business which is a forgetful song asking for world peace. The album is an improvement on Monkey Business but nothing on the albums before Fergie or Elephunk. Expand

Better than "Monkey Business", but not as good as "Elephunk". They tried hard creating club bangers, but they failed (only "Boom Boom pow" is great as a club track). When the band is more 'underground' (like the bonus track "Mare"), they are better.

This is an album that starts off sublimely, with Boom Boom Pow and Rock That Body being pure dance nirvana. The next several songs are all pretty great too, but, around track 7 or 8, the music slowly slides downhill. Granted the lowest it gets is still not bad, but there are a number of reasons for the downward slide anyway. Not their best album, and I guess I should stop hoping they will return to their roots, but this isn't a bad album. They clearly decided to go with a dance feel for this one, and they succeed in doing so. I got very bored listening to the album. The first half of the album is okay but by the time you reach the end, most of the songs sound the same.

With out of this world beats the Black Eyed Peas show us how smooth and stylish they can be. They also show us that if we love the world we need money and sex, which prevents them from being any good at all.

The lyrics were pretty dumb, but some of the beats from songs such as "Rock That Body" and "Boom Boom Pow" were very good. The band's talent is minimal, where they use vocal processing to cover up their otherwise mediocre voices.

The E.N.D. was the comeback record for The Black Eyed Peas - the electronic record (well... "The Electronic [Music] Never Dies). First, let's start out with the pros: will.i.am is a great producer and he's actually good experimenting with electronic, too - if he could try to be a bit less repetitive with his production I probably would have given this a 6. They also make a somewhat failed but successful at the same time attempt to be original - they obviously wanted to catch on to what was trending on the charts, but with (very) few new twists. The only thing I can see sticking out about this album's originality include the whole "energy" concept. And also, their lyricism needs some HUGE improvement. Overall, this is honestly a mixed effort - they should have tried harder (not that they've ever been great). Grade: C. Highlight: "Imma Be". Worst song: "Party All the Time" Expand

  1. The E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies) is a mess of pop/dance/rap crossover.
  2. Group mastermind will.i.am's attempt at social commentary on 'Now Generation' comes off more like an ''I just got DSL!'' laundry list. But when the group's glitchy future-funk beats sync up with Fergie's unabashedly feminine melodies, as on the sweetly insidious 'Meet Me Halfway,' they find pure Top 40 nirvana.
  3. Most of The E.N.D. doesn't ask too much from those fans. Its more substantive musical and thematic statements are interrupted by many others showing the Peas' deep, deep commitment to a good party.
