Knowles' co-production remains consistently energetic from the percussive powerhouse of THE POWER peppered with Xhosa vocals from up-and-coming Tierra Whack (also contributions from South African artists Moonchild Sanelly and Busiswa), to empowering tracks like BIGGER and BROWN SKIN GIRL that remind young, dark-skinned women, specifically with African ancestry, how important DNA-infused self-celebration is today (coincidentally following the controversy of the casting of Ariel in THE LITTLE MERMAID remake). Beyoncé claims this album is both “sonic cinema” and as “a love letter to Africa.” which is solidified through the payoff that THE LION KING: THE GIFT infuses hypnotic Afrobeats and thematic notes to properly showcase African representation in a story knowingly tied to culture appropriation and lacking 'circle of life' worldview, thus breathing new meaning to the phrase 'The Lion King', in Bey's script of course.     The flow, the sounds and the features were so well done. The way the story was told through contemporary music worked surprisingly well. After the first listen there were one or two songs that I didn't love as much as others but after listening the whole way through for the third time I appreciated why they were there and how they contributed to the story. She is not belting a G5 to be valid in music world anymore, her voice is expressing emotion and owns the vision and in the best way possible. Really amazing seeing her artistry flourish. Also saw a video the other day of a bunch of africans kids singing along to "Brown skin girl, your skin just like pearls, the best thing in the world!" and it gave me life!     Eu não consigo parar de ouvir as músicas MOOD 4 EVA, KEYS TO THE KINGDOM e BROWN SKIN GIRL. Esse é o melhor album que eu já ouvi em anos.

    The gift album is a spectacular album. As a Nigerian I can say it truly reflects the richness and beauty in the African culture. The interludes play both complimentary and supplementary roles in the album as they make each song more colourful and understandable. Songs like Spirit, brown skin girl, bigger, mood 4 eva stand out.     This album is not just an album but it is a movement of culture that bridge society to unite, understand each other and being proud of ourself. Other than that, this album also includes the best sounds from Africa and it is the best African sound to be introduce to the world. This album is not just a gift to Africa but it is another way for it to be a pride of Africa and All the African people.

    It's a **** album! beyoncé as always reinventing itself and giving us another quality material, the songs combine very well with the interludes and we can highlight Black Skin Girls, Power and Water, as the best of this album.

    Sem palavras pra essa obra. Beyoncé como sempre indo contra a maré. Tudo que se ouve mas rádios hoje em dia é pop alternativo, tropical house, rap e reggaeton. Beyoncé mostrando que não é uma artista acomodada e expandindo seus horizontes com novas sonoridades e colocando a música africana no mainstream atual. Maior artista da atualidade
