Joachim Nordwall, Daniel Fagge Fagerström and Henrik Rylander are enough of a quorum and enough in sync with one another to make a defining closing statement.

This album is a career highpoint for Sweden’s Skull Defekts.

Fittingly, this final chapter for the Skull Defekts is easily the most explosive, most elaborately conceived, and still fully realized work in their catalog, and a monolithic note to go out on.

Some good, powerful rock songs aside, this is a strange, honest, but not altogether convincing way to go out. [Mar 2018, p.32]

The songs move with a drum-driven purpose, seeking to obliterate the sluggish state of stagnation. Alien concepts of primitive tribalism evolve through throbbing animal-skin vibrations. It’s a dangerous and seductive party, one where the dancers wear masks and move with a wild amoral ambiguity. Members have played in Orchestra Of Constant Distress, Union Carbide Productions, Wildbirds & Peacedrums, Death Dub, Saturn and the Sun, 8 Days Of Nothing, High Boys, Trapdoor **** Exit, Weirdest Dream, Night Vision Campers, The Ass Galaxy, Pharadox, more. Recalls bands like early Savage Republic, The Pop Group, Sonic Youth, Swans, The Ex. “The Skull Defekts” sends this rare band out on a high note of creative rock music shamanism. It’s a darkly spiritual journey of motion that won’t soon be equaled. Recommended. Full Review »
