    Even though there are moments that skirt close to self-indulgence--there’s an entire song dedicated to celebrated author Judy Blume which still somehow works, while Bigger On The Inside stops being a heartfelt defence after a while and just turns into a bit of a whine--and you’re left with the impression that a sympathetic editor would do wonders for Palmer, there are still some heart-stopping moments of beauty on this third album.

    It’s a negative downer and an uplifting power, because we get her, and she gets us; even if we don’t want to be “gotten”. Being vulnerable feels rotten, until you inspired by something(s), like perhaps this album, a cathartic monumental one by Amanda **** Palmer.    … Expand

Con un solido público en patreon.com que la impulsa a crear proyectos como este, Palmer se merece el apoyo y el cariño de sus fans. Seré directo: Amanda Palmer podrá no tener la voz más bonita de la industria para nada, pero como a muchos apasionados, eso no es importante y le gana el poder, la sensibilidad, la crudeza, la sinceridad, el dolor, el consuelo y todo el saco de sentimientos que acomoda en las letras de sus canciones. "There Will Be No Intermission" es indudablemente importante. Se siente el activismo y la humanidad en sus canciones. La narrativa en sus letras también son muy valientes y, cuando para la gran mayoría de los artistas hoy en día es importante el tiempo y la formula, para Palmer no, o al menos no es una prioridad, pues con una duración de 1hr y 18min, las canciones rara vez duran menos de 5:30min y eso es porque existe una historia necesaria de contar y cuidar en cada una. Por eso tienen un inicio, un desarrollo, un desenlace, un clímax, acción, drama, comedia, misterio y, en varios casos, un plot-twist impactante, y todo con una humanidad increíble. "A Mother's Confession", "Voicemail For Jill" y "Look Mummy No Hands" son pruebas directas de ello. La producción musical remplaza la melodía para darle espacio a la ambientación y trabajar la intensidad y sensibilidad de cada narrativa, en ese aspecto las canciones no necesariamente son fáciles de escuchar, pero todas tienen un arco emocional que vale la pena presenciar. Amanda Palmer ha creado una colección de errores y debilidades que representa a muchas o a todas las mujeres que, en conjunto, son un grito de victoria que declara que el éxito está en el hecho de sobrevivir en un mundo tan juicioso, hostil y exigente con la misma mujer.

    Amanda Palmer is definitely a surprise and a singular experience. The multitalented artist from Boston and wife of the well-recognized author Neil Gaiman, presents "There Will Be No Intermission", an album that must be heard to be believed. With a solid public in patreon.com that boosts her to create projects like this, Palmer deserves the support and affection of her fans. I'll be straight forward: Amanda Palmer could not have the prettiest voice of the industry at all but, as many passionate artists, that is not really important for her, and the power, the sensibility, the rawness, the sincerity, the pain, the consolation and all the sack of feelings that she puts in her lyrics wins over her voice. "There Will Be No Intermission" is undoubtedly important. It can be felt the activism and humanity in her songs. The narrative of her songs are very brave and, when the time and formula is very important for the big majority of the musicians, not for Palmer, or at least is not a priority since the songs rarely last less than 5:30 and makes an album of 1hr 18min and that's because there's a story that needs to be told and taken care of in each song. That's why they have an opening, a development, a climax, action, drama, comedy, mystery and, in several songs, a very astonishing plot-twist; all of this with incredible humanity. "A Mother's Confession", "Voicemail For Jill" and "Look Mummy No Hands" clear proof of that. The music production replaces the melody to make space for the atmosphere and work with the intensity and sensibility of each narrative, in that aspect the songs are not necessarily easy to listen, but all of them have an emotional arc that is worth experiencing. Amanda Palmer has created a collection of mistakes and weaknesses that represents many women, if not all of them, that all together is a scream of victory that tells how the success is in the fact of surviving a judgmental, hostile and demanding world towards the women.    … Expand
