Intense and claustrophobic, it's a surprisingly revelatory record that captures the highs and lows of human experience and existence.

A batty, compelling, smart and unusual soundtrack.

This new U&I long player is a welcomed return to form and Leila's most gripping work to date.

This one whips the spliced, spooked melodies and vintage rhythms of Blood into new, distorted shapes that at times recall the dark textures of Prurient's 'Bermuda Drain' or Fever Ray's debut.

Strangely, pairing with just Mt. Sims on U&I appears to have resulted in less-focused output, with the duo gradually circling a grimy musical plughole, only managing to pull themselves out via less cluttered material in the back half of the record.

Together [Mt Sims] and Leila forge a suitably avant-garde partnership ... conjuring up a febrile, vital rush of looped, monotone vocals, buzzing electronics and fractured beats. [Feb 2012, p. 107]

Challenges are often rewarding, but there isn't much reward for submitting to this particular test.
