    We're Your Friends, Man proves that they (he?) haven't lost a bit of their vision and skill, and while it's hard to say where one should start investigating the Bevis Frond's massive body of work, this will give you the lay of the land just as well as most of their albums.

    Saloman and company are certainly happy to have found a groove. The songs have a sunny playful spirit even when a song's topic suggests serious contemplation. It can be a little goofy. This is the sound of one hand clapping.

Saloman is a master songwriter, penning melodies that mix classic British rock with elements of pop and bits of Celtic folk music—then revving it all up with his spectacular guitar riffs. His voice has aged well, becoming stronger and more emotionally expressive over the years. And then there’s his guitar: I’ve said this before, but there is no truer statement: If you’ve never heard him play, he’s probably the most talented guitarist you don’t yet know. If you’re familiar with his guitar ability, he’s likely among your top ten players. Yes, he is that good! Add this to his compositional skill, and you have one hell of an album. You might hear references to artists/bands like Elvis Costello, Jimi Hendrix, Be Bop Deluxe, Nick Lowe, Arbouretum, Robyn Hitchcock, The Kinks, Jethro Tull, Wooden Shjips, Dinosaur Jr. “We’re Your Friends, Man”, like almost all Bevis Frond albums, is simply better than I could ever make it sound. It captures all the elements of classic British rock with a creative flair that’s dripping with sincerity, talent and pure psychedelic rocker mentality. Hopefully, you already know this. If not, it’s a discovery that you’ll cherish for the rest of your music listening life. Highly Recommended.… Expand
