Comprising of 14 scorching, razor-sharp vignettes – some scarcely a minute long – this is the sound of a songwriter standing on the top of their mountain, chest puffed-out and giving it the biggun’. Those confrontational moments are spiky and fun.

A long time coming, the record is fully worth the wait, Dominic flexing his musical muscles in a genre-blending debut that sees him dip his toes into rap, hip hop, pop, rock, emo, and more. A sure-to-be-beloved album amongst Gen Z-ers.

What Could Possibly Go Wrong whiplashes between genres in a way that is sometimes messy and mismatched. Yet Fike’s versatility deserves credit – it’s hard not to enjoy the grungy, knotted production of Come Here, as well as the California pop rock of Double Negative (Skeleton Milkshake).

Fike doesn't make much of an effort to flesh out any of his genre-fluid ideas. Instead, he's content with writing half-written bouncy hip-pop anthems (Cancel Me) and tryhard "indie" jams (Double Negative) in hopes of charming everything and everyone.

I think people don't appreciate how much Dominic tries to do. He steps out side the box and tries new approaches to the way he does things. You may not enjoy the way he goes about these new approaches but you have to appreciate how he does everything in his music. Plays all the instruments. Does everything. I don't understand critics saying he is just making another "catching hip hop/ pop song" to make his fans content. There is absolutely no one out there like him. Nobody. I understand if you may not like his music but it is ignorant to think he sounds main stream. Expand

The fact that it made me want more, to me, means that it showed great potential, and if he can start to emerge and find his own sound we can see great things from him. There were a number of songs that should've been much longer, as a lot of tracks on this tape struggle to make it past 2 minutes. It seems to me like a compilation of demos that are meant to go viral on TikTok. The production is there, but the fight for virality hinders this project, The few songs that are longer than two and a half minutes are great, and super fun to listen to. I find myself returning to this project wishing Fike will put out a project of actual sutenence and grandour. Something not mass produced and with longer songs. Some songs on this tape, like 10x Stronger, could be deleted and my review would probably increase. To me, that is the most pointless track on the entire project. It had the potential to be something really catchy, and to me, it could've been a hit, but it ends up as a minute long TikTok pitch that end in Fike convulsing and humming into the microphone. That song perfectly emcompasses my frustration with this tape. You want to to be so much longer and fleshed out, but youre met with what seems half baked. Once Fike applies himself on a project we might get the chance to see something great. 6/10. Expand

Probably one ofI’ve liked Dominic Fike since his break-through hit 3 Nights came out. It was literally everywhere. And god, it was so good! Probably one of the best summer bops of its decade. Dominic just really grabbed my atention as a new, talented indie-pop singer/songwriter. So, of course i’ve been waiting for his debut LP. And I expected a lot. A LOT. And god, i expected way too much. This is an average, forgettable pop record. And that’s killing me. Expand
