Across 11 tracks, 3D Country is gnarled, chaotic and vibrant. But, what’s potentially the most-shattering truth of all is that, amid all of this charismatic, wholehearted sonic anarchy, Geese have only just begun.

New York five-piece Geese are sure to give you… well, goosebumps… with the impressive, impassioned sound of new album 3D Country.

The album suffers from a few rough patches, but Geese have freed themselves from all expectations, which is a rare feat for a second album, and worthy of praise.

With 3D Country, Geese have not only avoided a sophomore slump, they’ve also delivered one of the better New York rock albums of the past few years, taking hand-me-down sounds and twisting them in ways only they could imagine.

Projector was a fine introduction to the band, but 3D Country brings the quintet more fully into focus.

3D Country is a fun album, and it gives the band a more definable personality – even if it’s bonkers.

While their influences are all over the map, it’s encouraging to hear Geese getting more comfortable sounding like themselves.

This is a weird fusion of country screamed with the strength of a post punk that just feels out of place and too forced into the music. In a way, there are few things that actually works. I feel the voice play so loud to understand the lyrics and is annoying enough to take out any attractive attribute of the composition. The composition itself is also victim of this perturbation of the concept as purpose of the genre. At the end, it's just hard to understand what kind of music they are trying to do and why they enjoy taking the interesting, entertaining, sense and joy off of their music. Nobody likes a "malacopa" (bad drinking (?) in english), and this album by Geese made me feel like trying to wait through a party full of "malacopa" people. Full Review »
