Gaga thinks she makes art. Poor Gaga. That's definitely not art. She used to be awesome, but now she's so boring. Please Gaga, don't be a boring singer, you can be more than this. This is definitely her worst album. Try again "wannabe" Madonna!

Love her or hate her, Gaga will make you talk about her no matter what. The reviews in here show this very clearly. The amounts of "0-votes" she is getting has nothing to do with the music on the album (no matter how much you don't like this, it's good pop music and you really can't find a good reason to give it below a 5) but with personal dislike for her. The amounts of "0-votes" she is getting has nothing to do with the music on the album (no matter how much you don't like this, it's good pop music and you really can't find a good reason to give it below a 5) but with personal dislike for her. I don't consider Prism to be a great album (not because of bad songs, but just because it's plain old boring), but I'd give it at least a 6 (maybe even a 7), because even though I find it boring it is not bad music.

The album is good, though there are (of course) a few let downs ("Jewels 'n Drugs" just doesn't hit with the average pop listener) and "Fashion!" is also quite forgettable.

"Aura" lacks the violence of the leaked demo, but still serves as a nice opener for the album.
"Venus" has the best pop chorus she has ever written. That is my opinion about that, I don't get the hate. Listen to the harmonies from 2:38 till 2:43 and tell me those are not beautiful and the bridge ist just fun and outrageous (and gets even more amazing if you picture the characters from Sailor Moon while you listen to it).
"Donatella" is endlessly fun to listen to, as is "G.U.Y." (especially the bridge hits hard here) and "MANiCURE".
"Swine" doesn't quite have the appeal of the live version, though the instrumental has more little interesting tweaks.
"Do What You Want" is a good R'n'B song, not much more to say about that.
I get the change of "I wanna be with you" to "Dope" and I personally find the latter deeper and more personal. It's a raw song that describes the struggle with drugs. I also don't believe that it is a coincidence that it is placed right after "Mary Jane Holland", making those two a dualist statement about drugs (fun vs. seriousness).
The real end of the album comes with the best song on it, "Gypsy" (I still consider Venus to be the best song musically, but "Gypsy" wins on the "feels"-factor). It has a certain "Edge of Glory" feel to it though it does stand out on its own.
"Applause" is a great way to close the album, not only because it is a familiar end, it's the song we've known the longest, but also because it just really feels like an encore. Gypsy ends the main thing, Applause is the encore we give our last bit of energy to.

Fun small details are also that ARTPOP is named in the first song, in the title track in the middle of the album and then in the end of Applause as a final finishing statement.

All in all it is a solid album (better than The Fame and Born This Way for sure) with some great hooks, fun and ridiculous lyrics and also a lot of meaning.

I'd give it a 8 or 9 out of 10, but because I feel I need to to pull it a little up from the haters in here (yes, giving an album 0 out of 10 stars is hating) I will give it a 10.

If you listen to more than Top 40, you realize this album, and she herself are nothing special. I can't say I'm disappointed, because I've yet to be truly impressed by her. Also it;s nothing what gaga said it will be: it's not futuristic, it's not outstanding or original.
Actually it's opposite of that, nothing on this sounds fresh. Also one of biggest gaga flaws are her lyrics, she just can't write good, decent lyrics. Album is full if lyrically dumb songs like: Venus, Donatella or MJH. Actually MJH sounds really good, but her lyrics ruin that song.
Also I will never understand why on earth she decided to put JnD and Dope on this album?! I'm not even gonna write anything about JnD because it doesn't deserve any attention. And about Dope: it's really hard to listen to it, not only of course because of lyrics, but also because of her really annoying voice & singing, she try so hard in this song, that she oversings it, and it's just bad.
From whole artpop i kind of liked only: Sexxx Dreams, Swine and GUY, the rest is not worth my time.
Also the idea of calling album like this ART is pretentious, and big understatement.

The purpose of the CD is to be fun, and that he does it so well. Lady Gaga only has just confirmed what we already knew. It is without doubt the best of the current mainstream. Most critics end up talking more about her attitudes than the music itself, a shame. Good EDM music.

I really do not like her music anymore. Terrible. It's almost like what the heck is she thinking. Getting too desperate for money, and there is not talent underneath a bunch of overplayed dance beats. There is an unnecessary duet with R. Kelly. Utter garbage, really. She does have a lot of fans that stay true to her, called "Monsters". Sorry, Ms, Gaga.

The album in my opinion has no fillers per se, minus the upset that is Jewels and Drugs. I encourage you all to support an artist who has put a large amount of thought in every precise detail on this album, a quality that lacks so much in today's music. Lady Gaga's lyrics have never been a highlight, however stupid lyrics can get a pass if the production and execution of the song is good overall. Not the case this time, the only song that can approach these qualifications is Do What U Want. The rest is overproduced, oversung, oversexualized and poorly executed.

Let's talk about Gaga's pretentiousness. Wasn't this labeled as the new Thriller by someone in her team? Well, someone should hit that guy's head. The tittle not only is pretentious is also cringeworthy. I wonder if this is really what Gaga's conceive as art mixing with pop culture or she just got lost in the process, as per usual. This is more like Gaga singing about how much she likes to get praised, and talking about meaningless stuff, something she has been doing since record number one. Fame, money, sex, love. How innovative, does she still have something different to offer, besides her obnoxious, ridiculous and desperate costumes? If we take ARTPOP as the answer for this question, is a big no.

Funny thing, some people thought Born This Way was Gaga's lowest point. What a way to hit the wall.

'Do you want to see me naked, lover' she asks. 'No' would be the answer if the result is anything like this album. Put your clothes back on. And don't come back until you're off the crack and have an actual tune to sing.

It's a shame that this is the same artist who gave us The Fame Monster and BTW. She likes to play the victim only this time she's the victim of her own oversized ego and overestimated intelligence. There's nothing there. No message. No point.

Feeling less of a mixed bag than Born This Way, the sounds and quality of these songs read more cohesively than on it’s predecessor. ARTPOP is essentially one giant electronic dance pop album. And for every experimental verse is a HUGE pop chorus. (As exhibited by “Aura” and “Venus”). There’s variety to Gaga’s vocal delivery, while often displaying a throatier bellow (As exhibited by “MANiCURE”, “Do What U Want”, and “DOPE”).
As with Born This Way, the promotional campaign for ARTPOP has been primarily hype. Gaga debuted half the album two months prior at the 2013 iTunes Festival. I found that I preferred the lower vocal delivery and more industrial rockier feel of the songs from the performance (except “Jewels & Drugs”), but I believe this says more about Gaga as a performer, than it says about the Album lacking. But unlike Born This Way, the overarching Theme is not communicated well, if at all. A “reverse Warholian expedition” this is not. Save for “Venus” which is semi-inspired by the famous Boticelli painting, we have mere mentions of this idea in “ARTPOP” and “Applause” in which she explains that “ARTPOP could be anything”, “We could belong together”, and “One second I’m a Koons, then suddenly the Koons is me”.
As far as the songs go, they’re crafted well and sound fantastic. Even trap-y “Jewels & Drugs” sounds okay, despite the mess it was during iTunes Fest. “Aura” with its cinematic intro and glitchy verses, certainly Gaga at her most experimental, is still grounded in a glorious pop chorus. The galactic “Venus” demonstrates harmonized chanting vocals reminiscent of QUEEN or Bowie, and brings it to a chorus possibly as big as “Bad Romance”. “G.U.Y” and “Sexxx Dreams” both dark and dirty dance songs demonstrate an airier vocal, with the later sounding like Janet Jackson followed by a Disco bridge. 80’S rock romp “MANiCURE” channels Pat Benatar, complete with a chanting chorus and eerie sci-fi synth. “Do What U Want”, with throatier Christina Aguilerian vocals, pulsates and throbs while dismissing critics (and enticing lovers). Gaga softly coos over underwater bleeps and pulses, while percolating beats build with angelic wailing on “ARTPOP”. Hiccups, squeaks, and grunts jitter over bubbly synths culminating in a huge drop, bringing out the rave in “Swine”. “Donatella” exhibits the snarky, ironic, satirical lyrics of The Fame (while also weirdly paying homage to friend and designer Versace?). Glittery piano introduces “Fashion!”, a strutting disco number that harkens Bowie (while sharing the title of practically 5 previously released songs). The throbbing “Mary Jane Holland” displays some more ironic lyrics while theatrically confessing love for weed. The confessional “Dope”, and sprawling “Gypsy” take up the piano ballad spots of the album, while utilizing synths to help integrate the songs with the album, unlike on previous Gaga records. And ending on the finale of “Applause”.
As much as ARTPOP may not be doing what it needed to conceptually, sonically it provides much to be satisfied with.

It is an amazing album, with a lot of references (Kylie Minogue, Madonna, Debbie Harry, Nirvana, Britney...) like pop art itself did, but the best thing its that you can put it on the dancefloor an marry the night! Like old times Gaga.

It took two and a half years for Gaga to produce a follow up to Born This Way. She took her time, but made sure that every single detail was accounted for. Over 100 songs were written for this album and she managed to narrow it down to 15. She also mentioned that ARTPOP would be a lyrical departure from Born This Way in the sense that it wouldn't be a mature, but carefree rather. Every song tells its own story and is burning with passion. THESE SONGS WILL MAKE YOU WANT TO DANCE. THEY WILL MAKE YOU WANT TO SING ALONG. THEY ARE ALL INCREDIBLE IN THEIR OWN WAY. ARTPOP is one of those few albums that you wound up playing 3 times completely without stopping. If you have the luxury of professional headphones, you will also notice that the song sounds completely different with them (in a good way of course).

What really shocks me about the reviews that this album has gotten is the fact that critics say that she lacks creativity, the sounds are dull and that her lyrics are pure There is no other album where an artist will use the roman pantheon as a metaphor for sex as in "Venus" or fuse dubstep with trap and screamo to discuss the negative influences of superior authorities as in "Swine". There is much that is fresh with this album and she is not trying hard just to be different and "avant garde". She is simply making great music that should be greatly appreciated. In addition, she actually writes her own lyrics, something that is a rarity nowadays. The song "Gypsy" is my favorite off the album and just listening to it makes you want to cry for how beautiful it is.

In the end, ARTPOP dethrones every album that has been released this year. You should definitely listen to this musical ecstasy.

The collection of tracks kicks off in style with the unique 'Aura', combining Middle Eastern melodies with some attitude-laced vocals and a chorus like no other. Controversial, perhaps, but one heck of a song.

'Venus' and 'G.U.Y.' follow unique and exciting tracks with great production value, and while they may not strike the right chords immediately, a few listens and they'll be growing on you at a rapid pace.

One of her best songs to date 'Sexxx Dreams' comes next, and without too much of a heavy bassline or overproduction it manages to impress on a completely new level.

Her versatility is shown on 'Jewels N' Drugs' probably not everybody's cup of tea, but the proof (if she ever needed it) that she isn't just a one trick pop pony.

'MANiCURE' is the best of the album rock-based with pop vibes and perfect guitar solos that'd sound great in the clubs. This needs to get the single treatment from Gaga and her team it'd be such a waste to see it ignored.

What can be said about 'Do What U Want', other than it's the perfect hit back at critics who slate her for trying her damn hardest at everything she puts her hands to? The R Kelly addition is a welcome one, and should keep the mouths shut of those who opposed his feature on the album before even hearing his verse.

The title track is absolutely stunning, with banshee-like calls on the backing track that really add to the eerie yet laid-back feel of the tune.

Personal track 'Swine' is another that has the ability to set the nightclub scene alight, with some fantastic EDM and distorted vocals that do well to resemble the animal itself.

An alter-ego is used throughout 'Donatella' or so we'd hope as Gaga sings about being a "rich b**ch" on yet another fabulously produced track.

Similarly, 'Mary Jane Holland' states "I am rich as p**s", but it doesn't take away from the greatness of the rest of the tune.

'Fashion!' and 'Dope' are personally my choices for weakest of the album, but that isn't to say they're completely awful. Every song here has something to offer.

'Gypsy' dazzles, exploring the notion of travelling the world and being a popstar, having to make each and every country you visit your home.

Ending on the under-appreciated 'Applause', the album does indeed get a raucous hand from me.

EDM-infused smashes come time and time again she's really hit the nail on the head with what she was trying to achieve.

The album is well a work of art. It runs in perfect order, as if it were made as the soundtrack to a musical with only a few blemishes that Gaga manages to powder up and gloss over without too much effort.

A stellar contender for the album of 2013 Gaga's got away from preaching and is working hard on getting us to 'Just Dance'. Bravo.

About the sound, there's already a lot of DJ's and producers that have made experimental electronic music... Gaga (rather her producers) are not doing something unique. The lyrics and lady gaga's voice could be the only good in the album but is widely overshadowed by the sound and sometimes by Lady Gaga's screams, grunts, weird ways to sing, and, in some parts, her very synthesized voice... ARTPOP it's a bad experiment.

It was slightly exhausting listening to it the first time. But overall it's a great pop album. I would almost say it's Gaga on steroids so if she's outdone herself in any way with this album its probably in polarizing those who listen to it. Something she does better than just about anyone on the planet.

I would almost say it's Gaga on steroids so if she's outdone herself in any way with this album its probably in polarizing those who listen to it. Something she does better than just about anyone on the planet.

My thoughts on some of the tracks -

Dope I feel like she falls a little flat with these ballads. I think there just isn't enough vulnerability coming through in her vocals. Not my insight, I read it from one of the newspaper reviewers that was generally favorable towards the album but I think they're dead on. She doesn't seem to be able to pull off vulnerability on these ballads for whatever reason. When she tries it's just a little overdone.

Fashion! This is the most underrated cut on the album for me. I didn't expect to enjoy this one just based on title but it really stood out to me on second listen. The vocal hooks are compelling and there is nothing labored about any part of it in my view. From the glittering piano intro through to the dreamlike verse and outro I feel like this is one of the few tracks that works on every level, albeit "reductively" from Madonna's standpoint. But for me, it's good enough to transcend that. Perhaps she should work with David Guetta more often.

Gypsy This falls into the Edge of Glory mold for me. Just in terms of the tempo and the springsteen like vocals in places. I'm kind of amazed many of the critics consider this and Dope to be highlights of the album. I just don't find either that memorable.

Applause Just a great song that captures the essence of her sound. Is it as good as Just Dance? No. Does that make it a complete and utter failure? That strikes me as a little unfair in that the song really does stands on it's own. And I would not have said that about, say, Judas which
sounded to me like a lesser, uninspired version of Bad Romance.

Aura Here is a song that had me asking what the F* is wrong with her until the chorus. But what a lovely chorus it is. I also think the the lyrics come off better when they are not taken literally as if every word refers specifically to Gaga's personal situation and they have no meaning beyond that. I found it kind of amusing when critics pounced on the idea of her appropriating the burqa when the whole thrust of the song is to challenge the very notion that it should be off limits. If she is moved by the burqa ("It's not a statement as much as just a move of passion") and while acknowledging she was not raised as part of the culture ("I may not walk on your street or shoot a gun on your soil") she can still relate on an emotional, human level to those who are part of it and wants to understand that perspective ("I hear you screaming is it because of pleasure or toil?"). Is it too much to read into this verse a challenge to cultural relativism? Maybe. But i think there is sometimes more to her lyrics then the critics can be bothered to understand before they start sharpening their knives. Or maybe I am just reading too much into things because all she does is write about herself. Narcissist.

Am I giving her points just based on the fact that is sounds like she is actually the creative force behind her own album and not a committee of songwriters producing what amount to a prepackaged mix tape? Yes.

I find an ambitious, challenging and yes imperfect album which is largely the work of one individual (or musical partnership) to be more interesting and inspiring than a prepacked singles mix written by the same mercenaries that wrote many of the hit songs for britney, n-synch, the backstreet boys, kelly clarkson... you get the idea. Gaga, Adele, Sara Bareilles and Ellie Goulding, to me these are some of the current pop stars that have released albums that they alone could have made. If a review is ultimately a review of the artist, not just the record, then i'm not sure how this just gets set aside as irrelevant. Yet
the professional "reviewers" show little interest in reviewing the extent to which albums have been manufactured as factory products for mass consumption.

This is Gaga falling in love. She's been in a healthy relationship and in this song I hear her discovering the man that makes her happy. G.U.Y. is the gaga we all fell in love with. It's an ode to her former self. That woman is still here, but she's experienced more life. Sexxx Dreams the album's sex anthem. A gift to her fans, Sexxx Dreams is gaga's honest feelings about her sexuality. Jewel's N Drugs proves her knowledge of the genre. You know, I am glad she can play piano and have knowledge of classical music and still appreciate the hip-hip/rap genre as well. Its as catchy and listenable as any other rap bop on the radio. MANiCURE's title reminds me of Marilyn Manson's tendency for wordplay in his song titles (sAINT, mOBSCENE). Any straight girl can listen to this song and get it (also the secret gay anthem). ARTPOP 2nd best song on the album. This song is about love. Love is an art. Love is popular culture. Lady Gaga's ARTPOP is love. I'm a romantic person and so of course the song ARTPOP has my favorite lines on the album: "Lover's kites/ are flown on beaches for public sight/ the color palette you choose/ can profit you" With the song ARTPOP concludes the first half of the album. The second half steps away from Gaga's personal life to her public persona, but most importantly the second half of the album is devoted to her fans. Listening to her music in the second half I hear her messages to me, her fan. Swine is one of the songs I wish she would have released 2 years ago in 2011 when EDM and dubstep were fresh and dominating the contemporary music scene. The most aggressive song of her career. Swine addresses anger, the emotion we all feel but rarely deal with so directly. So sad that she released it this late it would have smashed just a few years ago. Next is the obvious gay anthem: Donatella. A hyperbole of the stereotypical gay dream of exuberant superiority. Many people don't understand it because its an inside-joke between Gaga and her gay fans. Fashion! in my opinion is the best song on ARTPOP because it is the quintessential Gaga song. Gaga has her private self and her public persona, but what ties them together is her unique, stunning, unrivaled fashion sense. People may criticize her music or her talent, but no one can deny she knows how to put together a look. I really wish Fashion was the single for 2013 after applause, its such a groovy tune that would have fit in great with radio hits like Royals and Get Lucky. (Also I love hearing the seductive man speaking french in the end of the song, turns me on like you don't even know). Dope is the ballad I prefer on ARTPOP. It's such a masculine song, and really clues me in into just how well Gaga understands how men think. Originally a love song dedicated to her fans, Dope transformed from "I Wanna Be With You" into a rehab anthem. Produced crystal clear anyone who has ever made a mistake can relate to the tone of the song despite its off-putting delivery. Expand

Ahead of Artpop’s release, a lot of media coverage centered on a perceived rivalry between Gaga and Katy Perry, who both happened to be releasing their third major albums around the same time. Listening to Artpop makes that rivalry seem both silly and kind of important. Silly because the two women are entirely different: Perry’s Prism shows off a superstar choosing to tone down her personality and offer a grab bag of fashionable sounds to reach the widest audience possible. Artpop sees Gaga going harder, louder, funnier—more extreme—in the hopes of selling millions. The distinction is important because a lot of people look at pop music as uniform and soulless. While Prism could have been made by anyone, Artpop is unmistakably a Gaga creation. It may not be quite as incredible as Gaga thinks it is, and its excesses will turn a lot of people away, but it's nevertheless big, dumb pop music with a person behind it—a person who unapologetically, desperately craves to be loved.

While listening, one may wonder what the concept behind the album was: sure, we have heard numerous decriptions about the album from the pop Lady herself, but unfortunately, the record is not exactly what the title suggests. However, by no means does that equal to a bad album; what's more, ARTPOP is quite the opposite!

The only point of view the ARTPOP concept could work in, lies beneath the structure of the songs. Without any exception, they all combine conventional pop tricks with unusual, somewhat artistic touches. The Bowie-esque vocals in 'Applause', the husky voice in 'Dope', or the electro extravaganza of 'Mary Jane Holland' are prime examples of that.

Although ARTPOP may not excel in artistry, there's a department where it truly shines: the ability to combine some of her best bits from both 'Born This Way', and her debut album, 'The Fame', by mixing the grown-up, harsh, and loud sounds of the recent Gaga with the playful lyrics of her early works. To be fair, if we consider the aforementioned records ART and POP respectively, the intent of ARTPOP is not even that far off, actually. Should you not agree with that approach, the album still remains to be what it is: a near-perfect POP record.

Highlights include: G.U.Y., Sexxx Dreams, ARTPOP, Mary Jane Holland, and Gypsy.

While it may not be a masterpiece of "art," nor a masterpiece of "pop," the fact of the matter is that Lady Gaga has combined the two in a way that is, if nothing else, interesting to ponder.

While it may not be a masterpiece of "art," nor a masterpiece of "pop," the fact of the matter is that Lady Gaga has combined the two in a way that is, if nothing else, interesting to ponder.

When the title "ARTPOP" was first unveiled, no one was quite sure what to make of it. Now that the album's here, it seems that even fewer people understand what Lady Gaga was going for here. However, there a few telling lines that, in my view, seem to elaborate just what aspects of art Gaga was hoping to inject into the pop world: "Free my mind, ARTPOP/You make my heart stop," "It's not a statement as much as just a move of passion," "My ARTPOP could mean anything," and verse two of "Sexxx Dreams" in it's entirety.

Together, these lines seem to argue that ARTPOP is not meant to be anything in particular, but rather a collection of what happens when Lady Gaga "frees her mind" and writes off of her thoughts, much in the same way that modern visual art is often used as a way to release the artist's thoughts, whether the final product is coherent or not. So, the "message" of ARTPOP is, in a sense, that ARTPOP is incoherent because in reality, things are rarely actually coherent. This makes for an interesting concept, especially when paired with the fact that the sonic flow of the album and the track order is probably Lady Gaga's most coherent yet (not to say that the flow is never broken, because simply put, some songs could have been cut if the album was truly meant to be a "journey from start to finish").

Even if not -every- line is a gem (e.g.: "Don't you know my ass is famous!") and the lyrics in general seem lackluster compared to some of Gaga's earlier work, the concepts and ideas she discusses here are far more compelling than her previous albums. Still, the lyrics can be flat-out grating sometimes, so that's definitely a fault that can't be simply passed off as Lady Gaga "freeing her mind" to make truthful ARTPOP. Simply because one is "freeing their mind" does not excuse not refining one's ideas.

The music of ARTPOP is perhaps where the biggest problem and strength lies. It's simply boring and simple at times, but brilliant and heavily nuanced with layers at others. That's not to say that any attempt at minimalism in the album is bad, as sometimes the simplicity of the album's music works fabulously, in the case of "Do What U Want." Other times however, the simplicity comes across as empty and lazy, such as in the case of certain moments of "Venus" (not that the song is altogether bad, it just has moments that leave much to be desired).

Overall, Lady Gaga's ARTPOP is far more fun to think about and ponder than actually listen to, which perhaps adds to the truthfulness of the album's "ART" half and a bit of falsehood to the "POP" side of things. This album may very well fail to keep Lady Gaga at the top of the charts, but it doesn't make the album less compelling as an experiment in pop music, something that hasn't happened in recent memory.

Essential Tracks (It's funny that the "best" tracks on some reviews are the "worst" on others, I guess this just adds to the fact that criticism is the art of subjectivity): "Mary Jane Holland," "Gypsy," "Jewels and Drugs," "Do What U Want," and "ARTPOP" (Don't even try to claim that the background sounds for the title track were produced while not high).

Forgettable Tracks: "Dope" and, to a lesser extent, "Applause."

    Score: 8/10

For the past year, Gaga has been toting this album has being her peak artistic vision, claiming that she is making living art. At worst, she's been written off as being pretentious, but while listening to the album as a full story, I completely get it.

The album takes us on a ride that begins with Gaga "killing" her former self and takes us through her psyche, her vulnerability and the darkness that lives inside her. By the end, she asks us for our "Applause," for sharing her proprietary information. It's an album that is filled with anxiety, hope, despair, sex, desire, fury and above all, love.

I've made it no secret that I'm a huge fan of Gaga's work, but I'd like to think I can be critical of her work when necessary. So when I say that there's only one or two "weak" tracks out of the 15 official tracks on the album, I say that with the most critical of minds.

"Aura" leaked ahead of the official release of "Applause" and I was enamored with the mildly southern-fried dance track that taunts the listener with her sarcasm. The final version is equally as impressive and oozes contempt for Gaga's former self, fame, celebrity and Hollywood.

On the flip side of her leaving her former self behind, we get "Venus," a peek into what Gaga strives to be and what every woman should aspire to.The track that was produced by Gaga herself. "When I was finishing ARTPOP I decided to write one more song. And this song is about a very feminine wisdom. So I told all of my producers to get their big dicks out of the room. I said this one must be produced by a vagina," she said.

"G.U.Y." is a clear fan favorite, from all the psychotically ravenous reviews and meltdowns I witnessed on Twitter. And I'll admit, while Gaga doesn't make songs to be "hits," this song has the stench of a potential no.1 all over it. It's Gaga at her best: sexually dominating and surprisingly heartfelt.

Let me stop here for a second to pen a small love letter to three of the men who elevated Gaga to this level of amazingness: DJ White Shadow, Zedd and Madeon. Thank you for the stellar production and work you put into this album. It truly is her best effort and I know we have you three to thank for a lot of that.

If you didn't get hot under the collar listening to "G.U.Y." don't worry "Sexxx Dreams" will take care of that for you. Twista, T.I. and Too Short stop by on the crazy train that is 'ARTPOP' to drop a few bars on the trap-tastic "Jewels n' Drugs."

The title track, "ARTPOP" is the midway point of the album where things get even stranger. On this track, Gaga attempts to define what the hell "artpop" actually means and comes off sounding like a lunatic, but that beat and her vocals send shivers down my spine.

Now comes her most personal song on the album and easily my favorite of the bunch, "Swine." She expresses such rage and fury in this song laden with heavy production that hurts my ears. I'd liken it to hate sex. While we don't know exactly who Gaga is raging about in this song, I can honestly tell you that most people on this planet can relate to that anger in one way or another.

The relentless brilliance carries on through the sarcastic and snarky "Donatella," an ode to Gaga's designer BFF, Donatella Versace and basically continues right into "Fashion!" which is one of the weaker tracks. I get what she's trying to do with the song, but it comes off as a little vapid.

"Mary Jane Holland" is incredibly catching and reminds me of all the 80's hair bands my mother listened to while I was sitting in the car on the way to the grocery store. Describing marijuana as a female is nothing new, especially for hip-hop, but in the wide world of pop music, it's daring.

But it's no surprise that a tribute to marijuana leads in to "Dope," the only ballad on 'ARTPOP', with just Gaga and her piano, producing a heartbreaking ode to addiction and love.

The album wraps up with "Gypsy" and "Applause"; both are stark contrasts of each other, but I can't think of a better way of ending an album like this. She's telling exactly who she is, what she wants and how she's achieved it.

I didn't want to do a track-by-track review of the album, but when each song is different from the last it's hard to choose which to cover. Every song is a bevy of catchy lyrics ranging from, "Don't you know my ass is famous?" to "You're just a pig inside a human body." The production is out of this world, this galaxy even and I think that was the whole point.

'Born This Way' was Gaga's eclectic and moody album that divided her fans. 'ARTPOP' is healing those wounds and giving off a high unlike any other. If you take the album at face value, it's still a wonderful eruption of dance beats, but if you dig a little deeper you'll find you relate to Gaga more than you thought you could.

The great thing about this record is that you can count on never having to listen to it again. There's some solid instrumentals and beats here, but the lyrics are...I can't even quantify what they are. It's like the crazy cat lady who never leaves her house wrote an album with a horny sixth grade boy pitching in on lines she couldn't finish.

The standout is the track with R. Kelly.

Lost within his own aesthetic self-adulation, it simply can't deliver something that has a minimum of consistency for even the already shallow standards of mainstream pop bum that currently prevails. Groups of songs which released in each of their albums really deserves attention, but only by the poor quality of the final product.
Even reaching their third album, artpop recently released, this characteristic was not altered. On the contrary! Right off the bat, it's clear that Gaga is confusing.
The song that opens the album, "Aura", is lost in an attempt to cause awkwardness with a sound "Grace Jones at brazillian samba" in his introduction, amended with a semblance of "pile driver" electronic dance periphery she also features in "Gypsy" which can only cause boredom. Very boredom.
What follows is even more awkward. "Venus", "Applause" and "GUY" seem soundtracks of drag queens contest imitation Madonna, while "Sexxx Dreams" sounds like a stupid 14 year old girl trying to make a version of a song from the Air
She still tries pathetically to acquire a 'street credibility' tasteless putting rappers like TI, Too Short and Twista to finish spoil horribly tense "Jewels n 'Drugs'.
"Manicure" is the 'time rock' album, such a pathetic thing that makes you want to turn Lady Gaga in a cheap and boot it to cross a chicken coop. The same goes for when she approaches the "indie universe" that independent has nothing these days to prepare a pastiche of Cansei de Ser Sexy vocals imitating Christina Aguilera on the up-beat "Fashion".
The ridiculous partnership with R. Kelly in the dreadful "Do What U Want" is just an emblematic sign of this lack of harmony in his career. Designed to be a "radio hit" with her straight rhythm, keyboard and synth pop jaded middle robotic voices, the song falls apart very weak both by letter and by the way they treated both their voices, as if the pair were seminal in a contest karaoke.
The title track and "Donatella" are so trampled upon sound of Madonna arriving to confuse the most unwary, especially the vocal, a perfect imitation that makes Lady Gaga Ciccone. Incidentally, this facet 'imitator' also appears in "Swine" in which she tries to sound like Joan Jett with neck pain over an absolutely suck basis of several things that made Fatboy Slim on your disks, and also in Mary Jane Holland, "that looks like a rejected song by Pink. Shame!
The "Dope" ballad, sung as if Gaga was a housekeeper zombie fan, Meat Loaf, a mansion on the edge of a swamp in some kitschy Broadway musical, is perfect for your Bocos fans dubbed "little monsters" by singer herself continue to believe she is a "sensitive artist". How pathetic ...
Yes, what matters is to topple Lady Gaga hits on the TV stations and radio programming, appearing in the media and put innocent people to buy tickets for their increasingly empty presentations. Except that there is no point being a 'obsessed', 'perfectionist' and authoritarian, the kind that rules the roost in your team to get the desired worship artist, if your sound is so 'little leg' as we hear in this artpop. There is no "clips with weird visual" to save this record a complete artistic sinking
