A wonderful album! A wonderful artist! Every album released, his talent and his legacy growing and most respected. This only tends to grow. Each person chooses his own Queen, Lady Gaga for me is the true queen of pop.

Sonically interesting but too grandiose to stay grounded. Gaga aimed for the stars, achieved liftoff, and immedietly got stuck in a boring limbo above the clouds.

ARTPOP is an electronic and electropop album, that made Gaga a better artist. For me the best songs of ARTPOP are Applause, Dope and Mary Jane Holland. But the album does not have a feeling of good quality and it seems that Gaga made it in a hurry. It is great that it has 15 songs, but I heard a lot of filler material

Her ambition made her failed totally. Combining the word "pop" and "art" didn't mean the pop music with art. Remember, sometimes you want to skip too far, you will probably fall.

"Risking" may be the second name of this album warrior. An absurdly different sound, that anyone who listen, strange. Something "strange" that is so original in Lady Gaga's courage to bring art and music to the heart.

Artpop is probably the best album by Lady Gaga. A true exponent of electro pop that reflects in a very artistic way the Greek and Roman mythology with enjoyablely danceable sounds. Simply a masterpiece.

ARTPOP’s music is at least more three-dimensional. Modern EDM and ’80s synthpop are the dominant influences, meaning songs explode with rubbery keyboards, digital zaps, insistent beats, and manipulated vocals. “Applause” is equal parts Teutonic techno and Grace Jones; “Gypsy” starts with simple piano and blooms into a high-energy electro anthem; and “Sexxx Dreams” has a breathy synthpopARTPOP’s music is at least more three-dimensional. Still, Gaga’s weird streak comes through—the record also has raging electric guitars (the Adele-goes-wild “Manicure”), sparkly R&B electro (the R. Kelly-featuring “Do What U Want”) and Sun Ra quotes (“Venus”). EDM stalwarts Infected Mushroom even collaborate with Gaga on “Aura” for a hiccuping disco hopscotch. Expand

This is VERY disappointing effort coming from the woman who did The Fame and conquered the pop world. It feels like she recorded it in a few minutes by asking kindergarten pupils writing the lyrics. No art at all.

One of Gaga's best pieces of work and Artpop doesn't get the recognition that she deserves. Start to finish this album is a piece of art there really isn't a lot to not like besides just little things. But Artpop deserved better.

She should never have released such a bad recording. The songs are poorly produced, as lyrics do not make sense, there is not a minimum of cohesion between the tracks. Bizarre.

Expand

While ARTPOP delivers just that, it also feels significantly less personal and down-to-earth than its previous album, Born This Way, and takes us back to the glossy and sugary dumb pop songs of The Fame.
The album opens up with "Aura", a ridiculous controversial wanna-be song that is so full of Zedd power (Previous DJ and Producer White Shadow is now gone) that it can be called his song instead of hers. Venus is another bizarre, quasi-sexy song about, well, penises and anuses, and the album continues with sex related songs like "Sexxx Dreams" "G.U.Y (Girl Under You)" and the maybe most delightful of all "Do What U Want" featuring long-time gone R. Kelly. The songs are catchy and dance-worthy, but they miss to hit the note of connection the artist achieved with their so-called little monsters in previous albums. The highlights, though, are the ones that feel more close to the heart of the performer, like the feel-good "Gypsy", the instant hit "Applause", and the best song of the album, the melancholic and beautiful "Dope".
ARTPOP is an album about sex for the most part. It is certainly kinky, with its weird beats and extreme lyrics. ARTPOP claims to be inspired by Warhol, but I can see that Gaga went for the popular choice here. It is not the best album the singer has on her discography, as it is fun, but lacks consistency or overall the oomph the amazing Born This Way had.

Her vocals remain prominent on the album, coupled with strong electropop infuses that resemble that of '80s disco and dance pop. She aces with her choices of production collaborations (i.e. DJ White Shadown, Madeon and Zedd), but falls short on her vocal partnerships. Her collaboration with R. Kelly on Do What U Want (also her 2nd Single) soars beautifully, but her attempt at rap/trap with T.I., Too Short and Twista fails to impress and comes off stale. Some other tracks also tend to have good choruses and catchy hooks, but hinge on being messy and a tad too adventurous, ultimately making a few of them sound like a few songs in one. However, there are plenty of standout tracks that stand a chance at becoming Singles in future. Her self-produced Venus, and other tracks like Swine, Donatella and Gypsy definitely have radio hit potential. The success of or lack of, as some may dispute debut Single Applause resembles that of Bad Romance, and could indicate the direction of the rest of the album. Venus, as well as MANiCURE, could potentially mimic the hits that Poker Face and LoveGame respectively were in the Fame era, although to a lesser extent.

She does good walking away from the overly complex messages that were imbedded on the Born This Way album, but her classic rocker side still shouts out on this record, discreetly hidden behind the secondary dance pop queen she's supposed to be. Ballads Dope and Gypsy flaunt this potential. The overall flow of the album is, as usual, sleek as it transitions from [experimental] dance to commercial pop to ballads and finally, an apt ending with Applause. Lyrically, she again sways away from the conventional success of clichéd lines, but alienates the general crowd with lyrics that are difficult to relate to and would limit the potential of each track (case in point: Applause). While this album is generally palatable, it really is engineered more for her fans rather than the mainstream audience. It still is a strong album overall, with dance beats that will excite and tease the bass-loving crowds while maintaining the strange unique quality in most of her songs. Worth a full listen!

Standout Tracks: Venus, Do What U Want (ft. R. Kelly), Swine, Donatella, Applause

ARTPOP is a confession of gaga's deepest thoughts, fears and sins. All is maskered with EDM music cause it helps her to feel happy as she said. I feel free while listening to this album full of love and anger. THe production si amazing, qualitatively better than her previous works. i didn't understand all the hate and negativity that people have. She is doing nothing more than her passions.

ARTPOP has it's highs and lows, and while the lows aren't that nice, the highs are incredible. Applause, the lead single of the album and also her biggest radio hit, is definitely one of Gaga's best. Incredible track. Great album. Love it.

Gaga proves her worth with her debut self produced track 'Venus', and continues to define who she is as an artist with each exceptional track. Although met with negativity among the general public, perhaps this is just the cause of petty wars between fan bases and the ignorant descriptions of Gaga: she's talentless, she's a man, she's over. Although, she is far from over and is far from stopping. All these descriptions become disregarded when listening to 'ARTPOP', as you can hear that she is finally having fun. She finally feels somewhat free in this limited industry. For that, and for a very diverse, ballsy and standout album, Lady Gaga deserves all the 'Applause' she gets and more. Expand

    Heres a song run down

Aura 9.5/10 - I fell in love with this song when it was released as a lyric video on her VEVO channel. I bought this on iTunes when it became available. This was one of my favorite songs for an extended period of time. Now this is a very recommended song of mine.

Venus 9.2/10 - Now I completely love this song to death. VENUS! I listened to this song while playing my xbox on iTunes first look radio. I thought she was saying p*nis because of my turtle beaches on but I took them off one ear and heard VENUS!

G.U.Y. 10/10 - This is one of my favorite songs on the album!!! Aura being another. I love the music video to death!! So welly produced and looks amazing. I love this song and will always, its still my jam after almost a year.

Sexxx dreams 8/10 - This song is so good. I love this song and its one of those songs you is sexual but you don't care. I love it but don't really listen to it around family.

Jewels N' Drugs 7.1/10 - Now I'm not too in love with rap but I like this song. Now I like that Lady Gaga likes to step out of the bubble she was out in of pop and can go do rap.

MANiCURE 8.8/10 - I love this song and how it was produced. I love the background sounds (I don't know what to call it) and the lyrics are sexual but its ok.

Do What U Want (feat. R. Kelly) 8.3/10 - Now you may listen to this song the first time and be like " what the hell she's saying to have sexual intercourse with her" but I see it as you can do what you want but the knowledge she has you can not manipulate.

Artpop 7.2/10 - I didn't really enjoy this song too much. I skip over it often just because the lyrics don't really hit me like the other songs. Now I'm not dry heaving at the mere sound of this song but its not like I will fight off a wave of skips just to listen to it. I love the melody of it though.

Swine 8.9/10 - I love the tempo of this song and lyrics are great. Now I love this song and listen to it (accidentally bought the clean version at first so had to rebuy it) but its great

(I feel bad for people who type a lot because my hands hurt at this point)

Donatella 7.8/10 - Now this is the point where I think this song is a filler. I don't have much shade to throw at this song but I don't love it.

Fashion! 8.2/10 - I do love this song and melody but Im not placing it one of my favorite. Its not just there but it has a presence. I love the lyrics and the tempo. Defiantly a great song by her.

Mary Jane Holland 7/10 - Worst song of artpop. Oh how I don't hate this song but its not my favorite but everyone has to have their least favorite. Now your least favorite may not be as low as a score as this song but everyone has a least favorite.

Dope 7.9/10 - I have nothing against this song which I interpret as her song about her drug addiction or a friend with one. But I do like this song.

Gypsy 8/10 - I do skip over this song a lot but its because I have to be in the mood to listen to this song but when I am I love it.

Applause 8.2/10 - Now I know this is a contender to Katy Perrys "Roar" but I cant listen to roar anymore. I cant do it. Its too overplayed on my part (just like the songs I like on Prism) but this song isn't due to its beat and lyrical genius put into it.

Finishing off with ballads "Dope" and "Gypsy", she shows a more personal side of her emotion. Though the album doesn't contain material that a large audience would appreciate, she connects with her fans that share her same passion that creates the ART in ARTPOP.

ARTPOP isn't a terrible album, but that doesn't mean its good either. And that's exactly where ARTPOP failed. For a pop star that has widespread appeal, experimental records that stray from the artists original sound often fail (see: Bionic, Erotica) and ARTPOP is 60 minutes of one musical extreme to the other. The album transcends from bass heavy EDM (Swine) to Hip Hop (Jewels N Drugs) to electronica (Applause) to oddly placed piano ballads (Dope). Obviously, it wasn't a perfect album, Gaga focused a lot on the promotional thing, on the promotional singles(Dope and Do What U Want(feat R. Kelly), and it actually worked, but the real thing was left behind, the concept of the album wasn't promoted. We had an album inspired by the old Romanticism, the art culture of the 1600's, and she had everything to make the ''album of the millenium'', but everything went wrong.
Start saying that it didn't had a good debut on the charts, the promotion of the songs was a total mess(DWUW video, for example), and then, the media started a big fight with Gaga, and it will be really hard for her to reborn from the pop culture ashes.

(And it would have been a big battle on the Grammys with Sam Smith)

On average, I really had the impression that this record suffered from some rushing production, to keep at peace with the period and surfing the big wave of her own fame. And she failed. Some more working and less fillers would have helped a lot. Also, she needs to give up every "ohhh ohhh" "ahhh ahhh" and actually put meaningful words to conceive a "good" song.
