Amidst the swathes of memorable hooks, pulsation of electro-beats and persistent homage to acts like New Order and Iron Curtain, Bigger Than Life proves to be much more than an amalgamation of pretty and fun sounds. There’s real emotional weight, rooted in nostalgia and that in-between feeling of well, being in between.

With swaying synths, popping drums, synth melodies and wistful lyrics, it's Depeche Mode for the juicing era. [Dec 2019, p.96]
  3. Oct 25, 2019
With its surprising warmth and immediacy, Bigger Than Life is some of Black Marble's most affecting music.
  4. Oct 24, 2019
Black Marble has seen a massive development with Bigger Than Life. Whether the record has proven itself to acutally be "bigger than life" is up for debate. But for Stewart's third LP, it's a solid effort and pleasant change of pace.

Listening to Bigger Than Life, the direct and catchy quality, the nostalgic underbelly, and the stunning melodies that decorate this work, it seems like the move to LA had a profound effect on Stewart. It has exposed a side of Black Marble that was well hidden in the past.
  6. Oct 24, 2019
Bigger Than Life takes Black Marble aboveground, where some songs bloom, while others struggle to adjust to the daylight after so long in the shadows.
  7. Oct 28, 2019
For music with such a fuzzy mix and a pervading air of melancholy remembrance, the whole album shimmers with a hopeful energy that keeps Bigger than Life feeling suitably large, albeit perhaps not as large as life. The stinger is that Stewart's melancholy isn't born of nostalgia, but of uncertainty for the future.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Good clean fun background music. A pastel shade of Depeche Mode.. In the context of the suit the biggest showman on earth might wear, ‚bigger than life‘ is the underlying white open collared shirt. Expand
