  1. Wide-ranging, engrossing and incredibly powerful it represents a new height for a band who has hinted at towering heights before.

If these are supposed to be feel-good songs, they sure do work just fine.

Delta Spirit's breadth still demonstrates a natural quantum leap from their earlier work, and the band itself is stronger for it.

Here, the band tosses in elements of new wave and post-punk, making their music an even more encompassing, dizzying, and gratifying blend of influences.

The band's smarts and muscle come together with a resounding whomp on the new LP. [Apr 2012, p.75]

Delta Spirit delivers a handful of superb cuts that have the band taking a modest step forward.

The band gathered its instruments for a retreat/recording session at the converted 1896 church Dreamland in Woodstock and produced a more concrete, rock-leaning sound.

    A lovely, thoughtful album.

The band seem as if they're still evolving and putting new ideas into play without a definitive idea of where they're heading. No worries though; Delta Spirit's spirited impulses are clearly capable of determining any new direction.

There are some great songs to be found on the record, even for a stubborn folk-rock enthusiast.

Always a band that was larger on stage than on disc, its eponymous third finally finds Delta Spirit's natural abilities coming through in the studio.

A dense, fervent, riffy drums and electric-guitar driven album. [Nov 2012, p.95]

Even if there's nothing inherently new about the band's take on rock, and at times they seem too comfortable coasting on trends from the mid-2000s, Delta Spirit manage to convey a likeable sound that is strong and intimate at the same time.

On Delta Spirit the record, the band capitalizes on its hard-fought inertia by presenting their cleanest and most sonically homogenous record to date.

The transitional third record by Vasquez's main band pushes their roots-minded songs into bed with electronic toys, where they assume nifty positions.

When everything's working, the band is a force. Which doesn't happen enough on this oddly-timed eponymous release. [No. 85, p.53]

Though this overhaul is often passionate and catchy, it's also frustratingly generic and portentous.

Their third, self-titled, full-length finds the band unable to rise out of their own formulas.

In the sea of alternative rock - which is now the whole world flooded - can say that the team can get tangled in each of the seemingly not distinctive song note of freshness. It is worth mentioning the guitar motif reminiscent The Maccabees "Feel To Follow" - " Tear It Up ", a little punk-experimental "Tellin' The Mind" or energetic, rock "Saves Money". Full Review »
