  • Summary: The quartet from Seattle release its debut album.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 6 out of 6
  2. Mixed: 0 out of 6
  3. Negative: 0 out of 6
  1. So while Don’t Be a Stranger may run on a bit too long, that’s hardly something to complain about. In fact, that is exactly the point of the record, of the beautiful sounds the Moondoggies are making.
  2. As far as 2008 sleepers go, this album’s near the top of the pile. Don’t Be A Stranger is good advice, indeed.
  3. Under The Radar
    70
It's a down-home, countrified party, even if its orgins are from up north. [Fall 2008, p.81]
  4. Enjoying the Moondoggies, though, hinges on being able to accept a couple of Seattleites in their early 20s digging so earnestly into the '70s.
  5. Not enough of Farmer or Poor Richard. Not enough sweat and gunpowder. They are intent on a tent shakeout, but no one’s pitching it.
  6. Don’t Be a Stranger is a charming collection by a confident and competent group of musicians, but its drawback is its same-ness.
