As with all of his records, Eight takes on a slightly different shape than anything before it, further solidifying the man's reputation as a producer capable of continuing to refine his techniques while landing on new and powerful ideas with each release.

Eight is a solid album of bass-heavy, tribal dub techno that employs plenty of analog synth and is among Deadbeat's strongest releases to date.

With arena-size atmospherics and every sound endowed with a fathoms-deep dub delirium, Eight is an album as focused on its meticulous sound design as it is on the musicality.

Eight is both more concise and more varied [than his last outing, Drawn and Quartered].

This record is a must for the collection of any fans of minimal electronic music or the sparse sounds of Eastern-Canadian dubstep and if Deadbeat isn't a name you recognized it's time to pay attention--he's earned it with this release.

The more adventurous shifts in style aren't without merit, but feel more curious than exciting.
