Apr 30, 2019Watching this band evolve is pure joy. And with budding rumors of a second 2019 release, King Gizzard & The Wizard Lizard seem to be continuing to push boundaries even further.

UncutApr 26, 2019Fishing For Fishies encapsulates many of their musical charms, foregrounds their deeper lyrical concerns and also shows they don't need to rely on gimmicks to get their point across. [Jun 2019, p.25]

MojoMay 1, 2019This time around, the Gizz's experiments have resulted in a compelling macrame of blues, rock, electronica, country and more besides. [Jun 2019, p.90]
-
Apr 26, 2019Closer ‘Cyboogie’, the cheesy, sci-fi-inspired lead single from the LP, is by far the most tepid of the set, as if marking the roll of the end-credits and a collective sigh of relief. With that being said, do not doubt that King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard still know how to kick ass.

Classic Rock MagazineMay 3, 2019This thirteenth album finds them starting to sound like a band who deserve the billing [at Alexandra Palace]. [Jun 2019, p.85]
-
Q MagazineMay 14, 2019Here they lean too heavily on space-age boogie-rock. [Jul 2019, p.110]

Apr 26, 2019It’s a shame to see a band with such clear skill and experimental prowess release an album as doltish as Fishing for Fishies, especially considering that, not so long ago, they managed to release five good albums in a single year. There is very little joy involved in listening to these nine songs.
