Gold Rush Kid gets better the further it moves away from the standard blueprint, into emotional territory that, if it isn’t exactly dark (happily for him, Ezra seems to inhabit a world where every problem comes with a resolution) is certainly more overcast.
  2. [‘Gold Rush Kid’ is] a fun and curious ditty, yet the songwriting frustratingly positions Ezra as someone who got lucky, rather than an ambitious auteur ready to set his own fate after years of hardship. Elsewhere, though, this theme comes secondary to descriptions of a crisis induced by losing control, with bright, almost homespun production tasked with keeping our narrator grounded.

I love everything about this album especially the instrumental part. The mix of orchestral style string quartet sounds to the more upbeat guitar zound, everything is done to perfection that give more flavours and colours to the songs. It's summer so some of the more laidback, chill and happy songs like the 'Green Green Grass' fits the mood perfectly. Honestly after 2 years of summer all we need is upbeat music and music that brings comfort to our heart. =) Full Review »
