Jun 11, 2014Hebrews isn't the return to form listeners may have been expecting from Say Anything; instead it's something entirely better.

Alternative PressJun 11, 2014Bemis may have grown up, but he's still a master at crafting poignant lyrics that take a sharp look at his fears of becoming irrelevant and thoughts about God. [Jul 2014, p.97]

Jun 11, 2014Given how fickle Bemis perceives some of his fans, changing up the formula so drastically is a bold move on his part, but it's one that ultimately pays off, making the album a creative high point capable of spawning enough critical debate to fuel a lifetime of Say Anything albums.

Jun 11, 2014Hebrews is a wholly new kind of album for the band. Is it cheesy, over the top and a little too saccharine? Yeah, but the first two of those apply in spades to the first couple Say anything records anyways, and honestly I’d rather have someone singing sweet nothings to me when they’re in their 30’s than try and continue spewing venomous bile that they haven't believed in since their early 20's.

Jun 30, 2014A lot of sounds to take in and some head-scratching here and there, but overall, Bemis takes a brave step in a good direction.
