Dlamini’s taking no chances here and, now that the smoke’s lifted, it’s clear she’s a pop contender with the nous and drive to go as far as she wants.

Though there are moments where a new tone or inflection runs the risk that Doja might be mistaken for someone else, the album’s anchor in her R&B and soul background creates a tender space for her to stack and reveal her layers. Hot Pink doesn’t demand that Doja figure out the totality of her sound right now.

Hot Pink is an album that knows exactly what it is, and it’s the work of a well-crafted hip pop star with something to prove.

Not everything on Hot Pink is a knockout, but the experimentation results in some amazing standouts and other songs that are still fun or intriguing, even if they're not as memorable.

What Hot Pink lacks in layers of ridiculousness expected from a Doja Cat album, it makes up for in its versatility. ... There’s no question that she’s in control throughout the record, even as the format reveals some weaknesses.

“Hot Pink” doesn’t show an evolution of Doja Cat artistically or musically. The production from the likes of Tyson Trax, Yeti Beats and even the famed Saleem Remi is as slick as her debut, but also just as saccharine as her debut.

There’s so many styles that work together to create a cohesive work of art. Tracks like Cybersex or Bottom B**** are amazing songs that are fun and vibrant and (in the case of Cybersex) are even somewhat wacky, showing the fun side of Doja Cat. Although some tracks don’t land well, the others are enough to make this album a 10/10 and my album of the decade. It even beats out albums like Lemonade, 1989 and many others for its total bops. Amazing album. Doja Cat is such a versatile artist, as Hot Pink evidences. Every song sounds different, with such cool beats and style.

Doja really shows her quality as an artist here. Best female rapper in the industry at the moment.

This was..... odd. I didn’t understand most of the words she said, on top of that the mixing just seemed off
