Integrity Blues is Jimmy Eat World's best record since Bleed American.

The dreamy sensation and emotional relevance of Futures is apparent here, and the catchier tracks (especially the designated singles) sound as natural as they ever have, at least since Chase This Light.

It's a soft, frail album Jimmy Eat World have here, but one that hits right in the feels. Hard. [29 Oct 2016, p.51]

Integrity Blues is Jimmy Eat World's most immediately accessible and focused album in years, a peak in the decades-old catalog of these reinvigorated and endearing stalwarts.

In the case of Integrity Blues, the band’s truisms prove much sexier than expected, and the fact is that it’s their strongest album in well over a decade.

It just took some time, but we’re finally hearing what Adkins has to say for himself.

Throughout Integrity Blues, Jimmy Eat World navigate through a variety of styles they’re comfortable revisiting and exploring further.

While they’re unlikely to achieve the same reach awarded them by ‘The Middle’ (although Taylor Swift’s endorsement won’t hurt), their dedication to honest, wide-eyed songcraft has resulted in their best album in over a decade.

They've given listeners a sense of what they could be if they really stepped outside of it here, and quite frankly, a little more could go a long way.

On Integrity Blues, Jimmy Eat World return to that mood of reverie, with often beautiful and quietly triumphant results.

Not everything they attempt comes off--The End Is Beautiful is a harmless and cloying ballad and Through comes across as Jimmy Eat World by numbers--but for the most part Integrity Blues is an intriguing and varied entry into the band’s back catalogue.

At its worst, it's tired and turgid, but neither is it hopeless or without hope. [Dec 2016, p.109]

It has some ties with Futures, Stay on my Side Tonight, and Clarity, but is overall a new sonic environment for JEW. It's difficult to pick the best track, each offers something new. Full Review »

While it suffers from every song being "merely good" and no phenomenal standouts, you absolutely, MUST, listen to the final track, "Pol Roger" if you have even a passing interest in Jimmy Eat World. Integrity Blues combines the best elements of everything they've released thus far while pushing forward toward something new. Jim presentsIntegrity Blues combines the best elements of everything they've released thus far while pushing forward toward something new. Jim presents some of his best songwriting yet, with lyrics and delivery that are both deeply affecting and life affirming while giving the music enough room to build into a rich sonic landscape. Easily their best work since 2004 and accessible enough to win over new listeners who missed out on their first heyday 15 years ago. Full Review »
