This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. for me is the most coherent album of her, all songs together make a sonority like they were made to be listen together, like a storyline very well connected to it parts, also is so good to see her evolution through the albums, getting madure and sophisticated. A masterpiece. Also, hope is a dangerous(...) is one of the best of her! You can understand this is a very personal song, although is very underrated. It’s very difficult to chose an amount of favorite ones when all tracks are breath-taking. Expand

I really love where she's going lyrically. The production is great. I was obsessed with the album the first month, although it had 2 or 3 skips for me. As it's aged, I don't think it stands as a perfect album. There is some filler. Still a great album and deserves a grammy especially when you consider her body of work.

Masterpiece! A great way to comeback after lust for life. Her voice is so delicate and her songwriting is amazing. Every song gave me different emotions that I never expected to feel while listening to music. Lovesong and California are my favorite so far, I could hear them all day and I would feel amazing, in heaven. She did THAT.

I can't even begin to describe this masterpiece ,
Lana's vocals have never been clearer or more on point , the lyrics are fantastic , telling a heartbreaking but quite sweet story , about love and affection , but also about leaving (disappeaering ) , she isn't the submisive naive little girl she was8 years ago , she learned her selfworth , as the album opener takes down this love intrest

After seeing and hearing so much hype surrounding this release, I thought I'd give it a go. At times the songs have a decent enough sound, but the writing really lets it down. Mostly, she just missed the mark when she is too derivative or tries too hard (or not enough) lyrically, but lacks real substance [See: Bartender]. For the most part, the average songs blend together because they are too stylistically similar. But there are only a few "duds", which likely would be highlights on her past albums and none of the songs are a slog to get through.

There isn't really anything new here, but with this album, Lana commands people to rethink their assumptions about her, if not take her seriously. This album isn't good for Lana - it's good, period.

It could be my first time ever when i disagree with most of opinions about any of her albums. Quite overrated work. Repetitive with not much of original ideas. Seeing such rave reviews surprises me a lot. Is there a mass hysteria/conspiracy or i am somehow lost?

I'm not a huge fan of Lana del Rey, but this album is very enjoyable. The production and style are very polished, with the care in the details. It's one of her best records.

I just want to say: thank you Lana del Rey for your music. Loving you since Born to Die, now loving you even more!

This album really revolutionized the very sound of Lana Del Rey. From Born to Die to now, she has good so much as an artist. She has really transformed her music to hit places other artists fail to touch. This album really is an album you can just sit down and listen to many, many times. Things inevitably drift, but beneath the surface in the best songs there is a toughness and a newfound resilience.

It's a remarkably sharp pop record that retains her fascination with pop-culture iconography and the rosey simplicity of a post-war America where classic rock and blue jeans ruled and takes them to much deeper places. ... Think of it as an hour-long car ride peeling down the highway with classic rock blaring out of the radio and no real destination in mind other than where your impulsive nature might take you.

A thematically rich record, heavy on mood and elegantly written in a way that positions Del Rey between Eve Babitz and Carole King. There are beguiling and evolving melodies underneath the spare piano and acoustic arrangements. [Nov 2019, p.24]
