  1. While it's undeniably polished, it's a bit too dark, a bit too quirky, and a bit too individualistic to be part of the mainstream, while being too slick and professional to be on the fringe, but the album is all the more ingratiating for being caught between two worlds.

Her Sheryl Crow-like growl can't win the battle against the disc's glossy production. [8 Apr 2005, p.64]
  3. The whole affair is overly polished, strangely detached and contains a thoroughly unnecessary cover of Don Henley's "Dirty Laundry."
  4. Doesn't stray far from the formula that brought her moderate success her first time out.
  5. None of it sounds better than capable.

The big '80s-style production highlights her breathy-sexy vulnerability, but Presley's better when she rocks. [May 2005, p.123]
  7. Despite hitmaker Linda Perry co-writing half of the album's original tracks, something is missing.

She should stick with a bluesy, gritty sound. This album is a step backwards from her debut..

her music makes my ear drums want to burst. the only similarity she has with her father is that they both sound like men. i try to like her her music makes my ear drums want to burst. the only similarity she has with her father is that they both sound like men. i try to like her as a person to but i can't. all the time she just talks about her sex life and blames her ex husbans for publicity. i here that she has to sponsor her own tours cuz nobody else will.
