She sounds like a woman, and an artist, who’s finally found herself.

Katy Perry aims to please. But now she grasps that she's making the mainstream, not just swimming in it.

It doesn’t require the patience or emotional/intellectual involvement that albums I typically listen to require. The cool thing, though, is that it does have quite a bit of redeeming value.

She largely sticks to her tried-and-true pop template, each song tailor-made for mass consumption with mixed results.

As a whole, Prism is forgettable. It’s neither good nor bad, and it’s not inspirational enough to set anyone on fire who’s not already an 11-year-old girl, closeted teen boy, or existing Perry fanatic.
  6. An album with too many cooks in the kitchen and not enough good songs to recommend.
  7. Self-help and sauce remain the remit, which might have been less tiring if “Roar”, “Walking on Air” and “This Moment” offered forms fresher than, respectively, the robo-stutter of Rihanna’s “Umbrella”, weary Italo-house pianos and strenuous stadium bluster to enliven their empowerment-speak.

Even that rather predictable, it is surprising to see an artist choose this pop style in the midst of so many successful concept albums. KatyEven that rather predictable, it is surprising to see an artist choose this pop style in the midst of so many successful concept albums. Katy Perry showed again that does not like to surrender to the fad and eventually creating one albums which, though it may be a fairly predictable nature and not much difference from its predecessor, deserves its share of praise. "Prism" has great lyrics and vibrant beats, but the excitement of trying something new is far away from here. "Prism" sounds more like a "Teenage Dream 2", but it works very well to show again the fun pop vein of Katy Perry. Expand

Well Roar was a fun song it was definitely in line with Shake It Off, where it's not a great song but it gets the message across. So the era started off on an ok hit. And we got a few tastes of the album before it came out and they were ok. When the album came out I was kind of scared because Katy's idea of a meaningful song was just meh to me and a lot of other people. And I was right the album had a few fun songs, but the songs that were supposed to be taken seriously were just not. Katy created another decent album and of course it did not have Teenage Dream's sales success or song success. The only song after Roar to be a real hit was Dark Horse which was a semi-big hit but of course still not as big as anything like her recent bangers. This album marked the decline of her career commerical wise and quality wise. Expand

Bored, there's no more words to something that seems that doesn't have enough effort.
