It’s clear that these five musicians have learned the rules and are actively breaking them, and their unpredictability from moment to moment is powerful, fun, and enigmatic. ... If Projector is any indication, Geese will be breaking conventions for years to come.

It's an extraordinary record, which stands, and reliably rewards, repeated listens. [Jan 2022, p.80]

Projector is an impressive debut and all-around solid effort from a band at the start of a promising career.

Beginning with another Strokesian riff, Geese build momentum for a catastrophic finale and deliver the goods in an almost Deerhunter via Monomania-like fashion, before abruptly pulling the plug, and ultimately leaving us wanting more.

With ‘Projector’, the band have escaped their modest confines of a studio where pipes leak onto amps and delivered some of the most compelling new guitar music around.

An album that rewards both short attention spans and deep listening. It’s a real treat to hear them zip between sonic epiphanies.

Geese manage to add interesting new wrinkles to their sound, suggesting that, in time, the post-punk rulebook could yet be ripped up all over again.

Projector is best appreciated not as the work of post-punk’s resurrectors but its cocky, charismatic trust fund kids: unconcerned with the legitimacy of their inheritance and confident that there’s no way they can fail.

One of 2021's best albums overall and a very promising debut. Can't wait to see what the band follows this up with.

Fantastic combination of moody pop and dance rock. Amazing melancholy in the singing. True sound of the 2020-s: half worrying half hoping forFantastic combination of moody pop and dance rock. Amazing melancholy in the singing. True sound of the 2020-s: half worrying half hoping for a better world. Lyrics indicate detachment and longing to belong. So varied, drum patterns and guitar riffs both twinkling and robust, drone bass lightly jumping around - all this makes the record sound both tough and delicate. A very mature debut album. Can’t wait to see them in Amsterdam! Full Review »
