    Katy failed once again with this album. Even the critics are not impressed. She needs to grow and release a mature work, but not like Witness, that wasn’t mature, that was just a mess.

    Folklore se cago en este intento de álbum tan más asqueroso y patético. Katy se colgó del nacimiento de su hija para lanzar semejante asquerosidad.
    Mejor que se retire y que disfrute su maternidad. No necesitamos este tipo de música tan más horrendo y para básicos.

    Lo que sucede con Katy Perry es que no se arriesga, no trata de innovar, letras y sonidos repetitivos, pareciera un álbum de una cantante joven que apenas va a debutar en la industria musical. Dos o tres canciones salvan el álbum.

    Katy perry nunca teve qualidade mesmo, não é atoa que a discografia inteira é amarelada, além disso não tem prêmios relevantes e nem muito talento, ainda bem que ela percebeu isso e foi apostar na vida familiar. It's just an awful attempt to try to reinsert herself in the music industry, so much repetitive songs and she tries way too get to the young audience and preach at times too. It's essentially more of the same as always, her album would have been less of a resounding failure if it had the usual collaborations Katy has. Nicki definitely saved Witness and without it, it would have done worse. It's very lousy, I really thought the Katy Perry could have brought us something better, but it’s not what we have here. I'm sorry Katy, but this a no. It's horrible, please get better and come back to the quality music you once provided.… Expand

    Without fleeting moments of bad taste, Perry does indeed sound mature, but she's also not quite as fun. That's a conscious choice, though. Smile is intended to evoke memories of her frivolous younger days while pointing toward a sustainable pop future.

    Like Joanne before Chromatica, Smile plays like a necessary centering exercise, indulging her insecurities and less surefire instincts. If Witness was overdetermined, Smile is an earnest exhale, for better or for worse. It delivers an image of her journey towards inner peace that is honest (if corny) and catchy (if not exactly inventive).
