The result is a free-form, almost stream-of-consciousness ride through a surreal, atmospheric and sometimes funny alternate universe.

This is Quintron's best summation yet of his iconoclastic melding of raw rock & roll, R&B and funk, experimental electronics and art.
  3. Jun 13, 2011
    70
Given the album's split nature, it's not quite as cohesive as most Quintron albums, but it manages to represent the fringes of his sound, as well as the heart of it, very well.

Recorded and mixed entirely in and around the New Orleans Museum of Art-quite a stunt-the album's "making-of" legend could easily have overshadowed its music. So give Quintron credit: the rollicking organ rock on Sauvage is even better than its backstory.
  5. Jun 13, 2011

Sucre Du Sauvage portrays the contrast between the two sides of Quintron's musical identity but ultimately unites joyful songwriting with his darker mad scientist persona.

While such transformations are pleasant, if not exactly commanding, they do manage to slyly deconstruct the "real" songs into the most basic building blocks, which are very specific to this setting.

The result? well, another Quintron album, all high camp and sweat0soaked shuffle, blazing organs and prehistoric electro backing. [May 2011, p.86]
