TBS still manage to drive home those angst-filled undertones fans have both embraced and expected since the band's inception. [Oct 2016, p.90]

This is not the first time the band has wiped the slate clean, but they’ve never sounded as focused or purposeful as they do right here and now. Tidal Wave may sound like a transition, but it feels like a resounding statement.

The guys once known for writing songs about girls who paid them no mind in adolescence aren’t here any more. Instead they’ve learned from their past, creating an album that’s both eclectic and sensitive, not just one or the other.

So many of their pop-punk characteristics have been shed but despite that, safe to say their music will always be anthemic and fizzing with vibrancy. Ready for radio airplay.

Heartfelt and nostalgic, it's Tidal Wave's less sonically charged cuts like "Homecoming" and "I Felt It Too" that resonate most deeply, suggesting that while time may not heal all wounds, it can certainly lessen the pain.
