Far from consigning her to one-hit wonder territory, the blend of strength of personality and music-biz savvy on Title shows that Meghan Trainor is clever enough to parlay a big hit into a real career.

Aside from an understandable naivete, Trainor's weaknesses are her stylistic cherry-picking and her compulsion to appear adorably relatable and socially correct all at once.

For better or for worse, Title, Trainor’s full-length debut, is more of the same.

This is real-girl pop with massive charm.

She doesn't give you the sense that she's thought through the opposing themes in her music: the individual versus society, modernity versus tradition, dependence versus independence. It all feels as unexamined as her use of certain vocal patterns typically associated with black singers.
  6. Trainor may be talented, with a large voice and a witty writing style, but over the course of the album she crosses the line from confident to smug.

Trainor recycles the themes from every forgettable Billboard alumnus from the past decade, with a bit more color here and there, but not enough to distinguish herself from the pack.

While the 21-year-old singer rocks more sass and self-empowerment on her full-length major-label debut (which, confusingly, shares a name with the four-song EP she released in September), she's also charmingly old-fashioned.

This blue-eyed soul is ultimately just pale.

If only she was as shameless lyrically as she is musically, she wouldn't be feminist (who cares) but she'd simply be worth letting in your ear.

Come for catchy hooks sung in an affected southern accent, not for insightful and, intimate songwriting.

The success of Lips Are Movin’ confirms that she’s no Eamon-style one-hit wonder; but Trainor might do well to study Duffy’s fate.

She just needs to read more self-help than she spouts, and show us that she has more depth than bass.

It's a fun album but the lyrics have no substance and depth at all. Not worth listening. Full Review »

Meghan Trainor stays within the same style of music as her previous single/ep releases, but leaves us interested thanks to the presence of catchy beats and deep ballads. Standout tracks (newly released through this album) for me are No Good For You, Walkashame and Bang Dem Sticks. Full Review »

Per se, the tracks are enjoyable and appreciable, but they have lost their potential due to a cheapish production.

When you hear 'Title' your ears have fun. But then the music ends and they will ask to you why you've done them to lose time.
