The overall impression is of vintage music given a modern snap and kept short and simple for maximum effect.

Mostly, though, Victorious simply colors within the lines drawn by others, scratching the itch of those already inclined to seek it out.

Victorious is premium Wolfmother in places, and pretty much abominable in others.

Victorious amounts to little more than a thrown-together mess.

Stockdale’s magpie career continues to show not an inkling of musical mutation. Let’s call it treadmill rock--one man putting a lot of effort into going absolutely nowhere.

It’s all too nice, too safe, and ultimately, too predictable.

As usual, Stockdale rips off EVERYBODY! The riffs are cool, and the production is pleasing, but the lyrics are banal. "The Love That You Give"As usual, Stockdale rips off EVERYBODY! Good for a listen or two before heading back to some Led Zeppelin or Black Sabbath. Full Review »

It doesn't pretend to reinvent the wheel, it doesn't have to. It resembles more of 80s heavy than 70s hard to my ears, and that fits like a glove for Wolfmother sound. A real treat for fans. Also a nice change of pace from the stoner-rock lo-fi release from 2014, New Crown. Just don't expect or try to compare this to their first album, its really different, but still pretty good music. Enjoy. I'm sure I will. Full Review »
