  1. "Certified" treads a fine line between keeping it real and selling units, but Banner treads that line very well.
  2. Even where Certified doesn't entirely congeal, Banner gets by on personality and an ever-sharpening focus.
  3. If Certified has one problem, it's the overabundance of features that eats up too much time.
  4. Fully aware of his captive audience, Banner goes for broke to bring in as wide a swath as possible. The fact that tepid concessions are made becomes less a surprise and more an accepted consequence.
  5. Los Angeles Times

Part sex fiend, part revolutionary and part party-starter, David Banner certifies himself a rap powerhouse with "Certified." [20 Sep 2005]
  6. Vibe
    70
When at his best, Banner creates powerful American folk music. [Sep 2005, p.231]
  7. Uncut

Every element of Certified is exaggerated.... It frequently makes for energised hip hop. [Jan 2006, p.105]
  8. Certified may be a cinematic holding pattern but it’s a holding pattern in a place--both geographically and artistically--that we can’t hear enough of.
  9. Entertainment Weekly
    67
Revels in its own vulgarity. [23 Sep 2005, p.87]
  10. Blender
    60
Certified would be pretty great if it weren't for one huge mistake: his suite of god-awful sex jams. [Nov 2005, p.131]
  11. Q Magazine
    60
Banner's rasped raps are as direct and filthy as ever. [Jan 2006, p.124]
  12. Rolling Stone
    50
The album's overassertive, radio-baiting steez is epitomized by its lead single, "Play," an imitative slice of soft-is-the-new-loud hip-hop. [22 Sep 2005, p.107]
  13. There's little familiarity, too little to relate to on Certified.

Eh...it's kinda your average ass in the dance club music, but it gets the girlies to dance.
