  1. The band is now more of a collaborative project than a Jon Auer-and-Ken Stringfellow-with-hired-guns proposition, and it shows in the eloquence of the songs here.
  2. The time apart has made the Posies come back fiercer, louder and heavier.
  3. Q Magazine

A red letter day for fans of classic songwriting. [Aug 2005, p.132]
  4. As inconsistent as it is, Every Kind of Light, the first full-band Posies record of the century, curbs the pair’s excesses enough to reward repeat plays.
  5. New Musical Express (NME)

It's all as comfortable as a favourite battered chair, but give it a chance and you'll discover a gem of a record. [2 Jul 2005, p.64]
  6. While the lack of further experimentation in the songwriting becomes tiresome after a while, overall the band seems comfortable and happy to be playing together again.
  7. So it's not the jaw-dropping affirmation of the Posies' non-break-up that we might have hoped for, but Every Kind of Light is ultimately a decent record spiked with a few classic moments of patent posies pop ecstasy.

Rote arrangements keep the CD from being seen in a flattering Light. [24 Jun 2005, p.165]
  9. Has only a slightly spottier ratio of hits to misses than their best albums.
  10. It's nice to have the Posies back in the studio again, but Every Kind of Light isn't the triumphant return fans might have hoped for.

While they once sounded behind the times, they now sound outside time, with songs evoking about 30 years of guitar pop, in the vein of R.E.M. and Fountains of Wayne, though nowhere near as original. [Aug 2005, p.113]
  12. Despite the one or two stabs at youthful exuberance evident here, this is an AOR album through and through.
  13. Under The Radar
    60
This disarming variety may leave you wishing they had made three different reunion albums rather than one. [#10, p.113]
  14. Mojo
    60
The Posies [are] now a surprisingly politicised act. [Aug 2005, p.104]
  15. Uncut
    50
Never quite rises above the mundane. [Aug 2005, p.98]

The Posies always deliver. Amazing songwriting and accurate singing. These guts deserve more attention from the media. Their new album "BloodThe Posies always deliver.
