    Don’t usually take the time to write album reviews but I felt that I should with this album. Gosh, I never expected these songs! Really surprised in a good way. J-Hope showed us a darker side of him (we also got a small glimpse of it on Hopeworld). He really took the plunge and I think it paid of! Really loved every song, even the intro fit perfectly in the story and flow of the album. YouDon’t usually take the time to write album reviews but I felt that I should with this album. With Rock, R&B, soul and Asian pop/hip hop trickled throughout the project we really get to see his colors as an artist. As J-hope of bts we get to see the light that he brings but as J-hope the individual we get to see both the light and the darkness that’s within him as an artist without straying too far off from the J-hope we know as army’s. Jack in the box is an incredible album, i literally can’t stop listening to it. Hobi wasn’t just creating an album, he was creating a story. Telling the story of J-hope.     An amazing and deeply personal album. This album should be listened to from start to finish to fully appreciate the complex and complete storytelling. The lyrics are beautifully put together and each song spends time showing a different perspective on the idea of self, J-Hopes identity, and hope, his self proclaimed namesake.

    I love it! it´s intense, energetic and so well produced. Although he doesn´t show this side of him so much, it´s totally his essence, it reminds me a lot of the vibe of his parts in "Tear". Amazing J-Hope.

    Jack in the Box es un álbum con un concepto interesante y letras introspectivas, los cambios de ritmo y flow de J-hope le dan un toque dinámico y las canciones se complementan entre sí a pesar de mostrar un estilo distinto, manteniendo el concepto del álbum, siento que cualquier amante del rap debería darle una oportunidad, personalmente lo disfruté de principio a fin.

    understandable if people aren't into hip hop or rock or prefer a poppy sound could find it not easy to digest. To those of us who love both those genres even without knowing what he's saying, sounds great. Excellent progression, beats, flow. Starts raging and ends raging, I loved it.
    Knowing what he's saying reading lyrics definitely added a bonus, I recommend it searching for them, but    understandable if people aren't into hip hop or rock or prefer a poppy sound could find it not easy to digest.     'Jack In The Box' podemos perceber mais um lado do Hoseok (não J-hope), podemos perceber o quanto ele pode se aprofundar mais ainda no seu lado artístico e que ele pode mostrar o seu lado "sombrio". Escutar o álbum em sequencia é quase como ouvir uma história, construída passo a passo, influenciado até nas mudanças sutis de ritmos e toques, de início mais sombrio e se tornando algo mais'Jack In The Box' podemos perceber mais um lado do Hoseok (não J-hope), podemos perceber o quanto ele pode se aprofundar mais ainda no seu lado artístico e que ele pode mostrar o seu lado "sombrio".     Apenas o fato de ele tentar um novo gênero, sair de uma base sólida construída há nove anos, já me faz admirar o trabalho dele. Mas, ele me surpreendeu com as letras, a honestidade e o beat louco, porém, com qualidade. Pra mim isso é arte, mergulhar de cabeça.     Love this album. I could see J-hope putting his soul and heart while creating this masterpiece through his thorough and detailed lyrics.     Personally for me as a growing adult, I relate to Safe Zone the most. He delivered through the lyrics where he had lots of thoughts about him being out of his comfort zone. And I personally think we all can relate the fear of coming out from our safe space to receive and take more challenges in our lives, as well as trying something new. He did that very well and some (like me) must have be relieved to know, that it's okay to have hard thoughts about the future, because J-hope has it too. We are all human anyways. And as an ARMY, it felt like a comfort song.

    And I love equal sign the most. It potrays on how uniqueness is not something that should be a fault nor a bad thing but instead, it is just how everyone is created and each of a person has their own unique trait. "Hate will paralyze your mind, gotta see the other side, it costs you nothing to be kind. Not so different you and I, looking for love in a different light, until we find the equal sign. same, the air we breathe, same, the dreams we're dreaming" at the end -- we all are the same human who has different goals and achievements. so.. no point of hating; just because someone is different from you ;}

    overall, i really love this album. kudos to my love hobi for making this happen and he did VERY well. it's so different from BTS yet he still holds the BTS vibe tight in his heart. the arrangements are also very well made and I hope to see more of him in the future!    … Expand

    With his first official solo album, J-hope reestablished himself as one of todays greatest Korean songwriters. Whole album is well though through, creative, cohesive and brilliant. His storytelling skill combined with old-school hip-hop beats created a masterpiece that is yet to be matched by other Korean solo releases.

    Amazing rock/r&b/grunge k-hip hop record - j-hope emerges as a global superstar artist and supreme musical storyteller. For me, the best record globally of the last 3 years (at least). Can’t wait for more of his music soon!

    This album is a masterpiece. All songs are organically connected. So I recommend you listen to it in order from beginning to end. The second time is better and more addictive than the first time.

    The album is well done on so many levels from the theme to the order of the tracks to tell a cohesive story from start to finish. Jhope perfectly shares his thoughts and topics both musically and lyrically. The only bad thing about this album is that it's so short.

    As a fan of more hard-sounding music I was pleasantly surprised with this album, actually. If we take a look into Hope World, his first mixtape, one of my favorite songs, sound wise, will be Base Line.
    And as a fan of j-hope I felt a lot of mixed emotions, in a    Jack in the Box let’s us see the other side of j-hope, side that was hidden or rarely seen, like the other side of the moon.
    As a fan of more hard-sounding music I was pleasantly surprised with this album, actually. If we take a look into Hope World, his first mixtape, one of my favorite songs, sound wise, will be Base Line.
    And as a fan of j-hope I felt a lot of mixed emotions, in a good, really really good way.
    If only talking about an album, j-hope did such an amazing and overwhelming job with telling a story through his music.
    Starting with a story of Pandora’s Box in Intro and continuing in the second song of the same name, j-hope tells us a story of his name, thing that made him who he is now. He is the Hope trapped in a box, finding it’s way out. Maybe hope is not always something pleasant? It may be filled with darkness and harsh emotions, too. I highly recommend you watching his performance at MAMA 2022, just a little glimpse of what he is capable of, a sneak pic into Jack’s Box.
    What if.. is my favorite in this album. Even though I’m a little biased due to how much I love songs sounding like this, but it truly is a work of art. Hoseok tells about his insecurities, asking questions more to the fate and universe than us or himself. What if he did not have anything? Will he still think the same, say those things, feel those feelings? Will he still be him?
    Equal Sing (=) is nominated for a Grammy in Social Change category, if I recall it right. Well, the name of the song says it all. Please, give it a shot, read the lyrics too, maybe? A little hope for the future is needed to anyone.
    I’d love to write about every single song on Jack in The Box, but that will be too lengthy, sorry haha. But I truly love this album with my whole heart. Please, give it a chance. If you wouldn’t like it it’s completely fine, we can not please everyone:) But maybe you will find something you were looking for in j-hope’s art, just as I myself did.    … Expand

    Jack In The Box is a proof that j-hope is one of the most versatile and flexible artists in the whole music industry. An album no one expected to be released by him and just surprised the world in this hard rock grungy musical masterpiece, alongside bop tracks backed up with his sweet vocals. It'll never gonna leave my playlist.

    This album shows an artist whose has a wide spectrum of colours. No templates and pure ingenuity! Melodies and beats: a real banger. Lyrics: genius. Stories and themes: difficult but relatable! Who can think of a mathematical symbol as a metaphor for compassion and understanding? Who does that?
