Indulgent and trippy and sometimes off-kilter--but a whole heap of fun.

Many artists could learn a lot listening to Man It Feels Like Space Again, but for everyone else, it’s just groovy.

Man, It Feels Like Space Again is grandiose in the delivery, quixotic in the extreme, but, most of all, it's a helluva lot of fun to listen to.

Man it Feels like Space Again stands apart both from their influences and from that other Perth group. That it also happens to be their best album is just a bonus.

Yes, it’s a mess but somehow a thoroughly glorious and jubilant mess. In other words, it’s a perfect encapsulation of everything that Man It Feels Like Space Again is.

They follow through with their gaudy intentions perfectly, and like an outdated sci-fi film filled with dodgy costumes and flaky green-screen, ‘Man It Feels Like Space Again’ manifests itself in bold, kitschy, and psychedelic appeal from start to finish.

It all adds up to an emphatic showcase of Pond’s personality, and their ability to inflict their eccentric spirit on any genre they fancy.

It's not quite the perfect wave that was Tame Impala's Lonerism, but it's certainly not far behind. [Feb 2015, p.113]

The extra care and attention to production and arrangements has paid off, making Man It Feels Like Space Again as consistently enjoyable as their older albums were unevenly thrilling. [Feb 2015, p.85]

Even in their repeated defiance of having anything to prove, Pond still scramble with the passion and irreverence of underdogs.

Man It Feels Like Space Again is an astonishing confident record. Even though the textural palettes are familiar, especially to those who have been lapping up the psychedelic soup of Tame Impala, Pond and their Perth based contemporaries, the songwriting craftsmanship and vibe of every track varies from the last.

Somewhat disorienting, MIFLSA is a messy, incredible collection of damaged pop, and shows a band that's been forming for a while stepping into its full capabilities.

Rather than re-invent the wheel, they’ve instead covered it in thousands of sequins, loaded it into a fluorescent cannon, and fired into the deepest, trippiest stratosphere in the whole solar system.

Feels Like Space is a step forward, though where Pond is headed is remains anybody's guess. [Nov/Dec 2014, p.67]

For the most part, Space holds it together, but there are a few moments that feel a little... moronic.

Even if consistency isn't their bag, Pond have genius at their fingertips. [Apr 2015, p.96]

In fact, so good-natured are the funtimes here that some listeners might find themselves craving a little more crunch.

Despite strong results in the past, this time these elements have ultimately combined to make a sort of erratic psychedelic porridge; boring in more than a few places, and a bit much for anyone other than the genre's keenest fans.

Still this album offers a build-up of explosive psychadelic textured flavours with each one expressing itself in its own fetished manner spotlighting the incontrovertible best-of volume of the band. Sitting Up On Our Crane is perhaps the greater accomplishment minted in full by a tremendous vocalization by Kevin Parker, from Tame Impala. May be that Pond has brought quite a few elements from Foxygen together as these ones seem to come up sparkling defined in Man It Feels Like Space Again, the last title of the tracklist. Full Review »
