Mar 20, 2019On Panorama, they show themselves to be one of the tightest units in music, writing groove after memorable groove. Guitars, bass, and drums meld seamlessly, with no component vying for attention above the others. What stands out is how rarely the guitarists resort to palm mutes, heavy distortion, or even fast strumming. There is an almost improvisational aspect to the music in a lot of these songs.

Mar 29, 2019La Dispute are titans of their scene, but they’re also lyricists of the highest calibre, writing songs many will confide in. Album number four isn’t a drastic change in direction, but it reaches heights when their powerful words lash the mind.

Mar 26, 2019When all's said and done, the record dips and swells (see "Fulton Street I") to reflect the oscillations of life and from these tracks here, it's hard to call LD and The Wave nothing short of timeless.

Mar 22, 2019Hearing Jordan laying bare these experiences that sound more his own than ever over La Dispute’s most impacting collection of songs yet is something that will invigorate the die-hards once more and maybe (just maybe) finally impress the naysayers.

Mar 22, 2019Progression is a funny word; in some ways La Dispute are the antithesis of progression, they’re more a freeze-frame of the moments and memories we try to get away from. This ability to cherry-pick these moments and refine them to poems told in a desperate, choked-back, strained delivery is the genius of La Dispute, and the reason they are now one of the pivotal post-hardcore bands of the last decade.

Mar 20, 2019Those familiar with the band will be unsurprised that it’s an intense, at times overwhelming listen. ... Panorama is another outstanding release from a truly special band.
-
Mar 20, 2019Panorama skillfully and subtly creeps towards resonance rather than catharsis, an approach that can make even their own colleagues sound like they’re trying to cheat towards the big release. Even when La Dispute rock, they do so like they’re trying to tiptoe on a frozen pond.

May 10, 2019It serves as the nuanced companion to the disquieting narrative of Rooms of the House.
-
Mar 20, 2019La Dispute are more or less doing what they've always done. They're just continuing the refining process, whatever that is, for better or worse.
