    With 17 mostly terrific songs (three sung in Italian), only one breaking the four-minute mark, the collection has the jittery intensity of a lion pacing before feeding time. ... Perhaps we could have done without the closing power ballad “The Loneliest,” but that’s the only misstep on an album that should thrust this band into worldwide superstar status.

    This is Måneskin’s big strength. The songs on RUSH! may not be particularly original, reading heavily from a well-thumbed big-riffs-and-god-times playbook, but they write a very good one, and play them with an energy that frequently boils over with exuberance.

    Thanks to co-producer Max Martin, who contributed to some of these tracks and knows his way around a hook, their version of rock is an aural food processor of stadium chants, processed-sounding beats, and wind-tunnel blare. Sometimes, an undeniable ear-worm emerges. ... It’s hard to tell how seriously Måneskin take any of this silliness. Certainly, being over the top suits them best.

    Pop uber-producer Max Martin is somewhat inevitably on hand to make sure the album gleams even harder than this sharp, lurid foursome do on their own. Unfortunately, Rush! is also a record that dashes about trying to tick all the boxes, with Måneskin’s English-language songs far outnumbering the Italian ones.

A song that is seemingly about nothing like "Bla Bla Bla" reads like a novella, and you can't wait to see where it goes. Genius. Rolling Stone's review was wrong about "Baby Said"... Damiano is the one making all the boring conversation and his woman wants him to stop and take care of business, not the other way around. Just another example of this band doing the opposite of what you would expect. Another review compared Rush! to rock bands of 20 years ago, but the big difference is that Måneskin, for whatever reason, don't sound like whiny poseurs, even though when you first see them you're convinced that's exactly what they are. Here in lies the genius of the band. They blindside you with an alternate reality that you weren't expecting. What should not be surprising is that an Italian band is creating such compelling art.… Expand

    Not as strong as the other albums but over very catchy and enjoyable. Their Italian songs are definitely their strong suit. Revival of the past with calibrated production, but lacks some depth in the choice of terms, but that was not their goal. In order to maintain their success they went for commercial rock, rightly so, not to be forgotten two years after Eurovision. But they can give and must give more, if they do not want to make rock collapse in this rush to the ER to revive it.… Expand
