It's the "electronic music" aspect of Strange Passion that's most fascinating.

Finders Keepers has managed to extract another handful of diamonds from a shaft seemingly unsafe for further exploration.

Strange Passion's careful curation and lavish sleeve notes give a belated but generous and welcome salute to an overlooked epoch in musical history and the passions it provoked. [Aug 2012, p.52]

There's a strong, varied energy that's showcased as a result, with youthful ideas and a sense of trying something different slamming up against a political and cultural atmosphere that was barely welcoming of it.

Throwing discordant elements into the mix to see what comes out is firmly in keeping with the spirit of the times, but the desire to create another fork in the road, to not just slavishly replicate what came before, is what makes this album (and post-punk as a genre) such a consistently fascinating area to re-explore.

    There's surprising diversity here. [Aug/Sep 2012, p.123]

Sound quality is spotty throughout, doubtless a result of contents being culled from original limited-run pressings, but readily excusable given the time-capsule value of the compilation.
