  • Summary: The latest album for the Yeah Yeah Yeah's touring guitarist features guest appearances by the Melvins' Dale Crover and Red Sparowes' Greg Burns.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 3 out of 4
  2. Negative: 0 out of 4
  1. Where "Hexes" reveled in a sludgier sentiment, all the while anchoring Wasif's emotional yearnings, The Voidist opts, for the most part, not to disguise anything. It arrives bare-chested and howling
  2. That feeling of being held at arm's length persists no matter how much time you put in with Voidist, and it's the record's only significant shortcoming.
  3. There is the danger that The Voidist comes off as a collection of songs, not an album. But for the most part they’re really good songs, and sometimes that’s more than enough.
  4. Under The Radar
    40
The Voidist eschews some of the drone-y stoner rock of "starnge Hexes," but his Two Part Beast band is still muzzled by a plodding middle section. [Fall 2009, p.72]
