If Pale Fire read like a dream, KoKoro reads like a worldly, real-life adventure.

Its exploratory, playful, even mystical temper, slipping easily between the emotional zones the history of song traverses, suggests a boredom with eschatology. [Oct 2016, p.55]

Unusual, refreshing and vulnerable KoKoro is an album inspired by the political, environmental and the human conscious.

Kokoro is a small but significant treasure that is full of compassion, and the so-called ‘selfie’ generation would do well to pay heed to it.

The only way to respond to the sourpusses is to ensure the music is very, very good, something that KoKoro can more than justifiably claim.

Assbring's discovery of the world of sounds, and the inspiration it gave her, has helped provide El Perro del Mar with a stunning upgrade, and KoKoro stands as one of the best works of her already pretty great career.

KoKoro isn’t perfect, but Assbring’s knack for creating well-written, catchy melodies carries the record it even in its slightest moments and a huge step forward from Pale Fire, positioning El Perro Del Mar well for an interesting Act II as a modern world pop purveyor.

Every musical detour she takes on KoKoro sounds carefully plotted, and though it may occasionally wander without a clear center, it hardly lessens her severe case of wanderlust.

The LP expands her sound, but it does little to wrench her out of the darker-shade-of-twee headspace where she’s resided for years.

The discovery of instruments by Sarah on this album, only make it richer and, even though it is only 34 minutes long, it is a true gem and it tells a story from beginning to end. Trully recommend it.
