For someone who helped to invent modern metal, he’s held a stunning number of surprises up his cloak sleeve (see: a wildly successful solo career and genre-defining reality TV show). This rollicking album is yet another.

A twelfth album that comes off the ropes swinging. ... His vocals are gleeful and feline, and these 11 songs are full of purpose. [Apr 2020, p.82]

There’s life in the old dog yet, and what’s more he’s learned some new tricks, which can only be applauded at this point. Ordinary Man might end up being the full-stop on an extraordinary career. Let’s hope that’s not the case, but if it is, Ozzy is going out with as much fire and passion as he started with 50 years ago.

With a really good — even at times great — album, Ozzy Osbourne shows off, at the very least, that he’ll never be ordinary.

71 years old at the time Ordinary Man was released, Osbourne's voice in in great shape, sounding more or less like he always has. How he's making music this strong after riding the crazy train for more than half-a-century is anyone's guess, but the better songs here rank among his best.

While Ordinary Man doesn’t stack up against early Ozzy classics like Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman, it is a step up from recent LPs like Black Rain and Scream. There’s strong songwriting, both musically and lyrically, with a handful of infectious choruses throughout the album.

True to form, Ordinary Man provides the rock and roll heft Osbourne’s fans crave.

'Ordinary Man' is far from perfect, but all Ozzy Osbourne's solo releases tend to reflect their creator's flaws to one degree or another. It does, however, absolutely succeed on its own terms, serving its purpose by reminding the world just what we'll miss when this titan among titans finally departs us for good.

Ordinary Man isn't necessarily the best Ozzy album ever made, but if this does mark the end of his recording career, he's ended with a bang instead of a thud. The record is easily the most captivating music he's made on a solo record since the early '90s, and despite small flaws with select songs, he's created another record worthy of people's attention.

Some of the songs are elegiac, some are packed with comic-book laughs, but throughout the album he sings with a youthful vivacity that seems at odds with his 70-something years. His goofball songs are more lighthearted than ever, and his more serious songs sound even more thoughtful.

Overall, this is just another Ozzy Osbourne solo album, for better and worse. It succeeds in its rawness, its slapdash cobbling together of predictable riffs and lunatic poetry.

There’s a lot of guests on this album and it brings a heterogeneous quality to Ordinary Man, but for the most part this aspect turns detrimental to the overall vision. Ozzy should have banded together a small fixture of musicians for the album and ran with a consistent tone that would see his mantra through to the end.

These 11 songs feel like a loose mixtape, flitting among a half-dozen moods and motifs in what feels like a methodical quest for streaming placement.

The title track "Ordinary Man" is by far the best thing Ozzy has done in a long time which is sad considering the vocals are mediocre.
The Post Malone songs are very skippable. Very bad.

On the album you will____ His metal vocals can not be confused with anyone, he still tears the musical lines of compositions with dark names. On the album you will find both war and lyrics, as well as echoes of the legendary Black Sabbath. There are enough hits here, and some kind of song will surely sink into your soul. Although the entire album is saturated with the theme of “eternity”, one can feel the irresistible thirst for life of this 71 year old man and his willingness to try something new again and again. Guitarra toda comprimida e sem personalidade alguma. As participações então, nem comento. Podem babar o quanto quiser esse álbum só pelo fato de ser uma provável despedida do Ozzy, mas não irá tirar o fato de ser péssimo. Full Review »
